There's a story to this month's podcast, mixed by taste-making Utrecht DJ and Rhythmic Culture mainstay https://soundcloud.com/akaaskmelater. It goes something like this: Back in March last year, just as clubs were reopening, Askmelater (aka Toine) was invited to play Utrecht's infamous WAS. club night. But unfortunately, they caught covid and were unable to make the date (most of us can relate). Stuck at home, Toine channelled both their fever dreams and their frustration at missing out on a good gig in an excellent set of moody breaks and trippy electronica. Almost a year after reopening, this mix is a welcome reminder of what a joy it is to be back on the dancefloor. And with Askmelater at the helm, you know you're in for something special.

Signals vol. 54 Kudeki [ AYLI ]   Our 54th Signals is coming from Bay Area's Kudeki. 

Kudeki keeps busy pushing the darker side of San Francisco's often-sunny dance music scene. She is best known for co-running Noctuary, a party bringing women and nonbinary artists to the forefront in the Bay Area and beyond.

Kudeki has been a resident at San Francisco’s Public Works, and released music on Martyn's 3024, plus Bay Area labels Fault Radio, Perfect Location Records, and most recently AYLI Recordings’ benefit compilation , " Dear Johnny ".

She has shared  the stage with previous S>N guests like Mike Servito and Noncompliant. This hour long journey takes you through multiple driving soundscapes of the Techno universe.

Cleveland's Ghost Noises (#090) is back as DJ Geauga Lake (@dj-geauga-lake) with a mix of precarious sounds, experimentally and eclectically electric! 📡🌐🌼

DJ Geauga Lake is the current musical project of Cleveland-based record collector / selector Eric Sarley. Pulling from their love of sampling and musical lineages, their appreciation for warm and psychedelic dance music sound design, and experiences in queer worldbuilding in the DIY, glamour-free creative environment of the Midwest; their approach to DJing and music sharing encourages moments of personal catharsis on the dance floor. Their moniker comes from the beloved and defunct eccentric Northeast Ohio theme park Geauga Lake. They are anti-AI and pro-dessert.

Key Clef is a Berlin based, italian dj and producer with strong passion for analogue instruments, founder of the label Ipnotica Erotica. After experiencing the last years of the flourishing rave scene in Rome and accomplishing a degree in sound engineering her creative process evolved into different directions from club music, to performance art and electro acoustics. In 2013 she released her first digital EP followed by releases on Love Blast, KKY, MinimalRome, BlackWater, DelirioRec, Mitten and Undersound Rec. In her own world music is a continuous dialogue between styles and hybridization. Her music productions as well her live performances include synth, drum machines and analogue effects reflecting her ethereal trajectory while her dj sets show the full prism of her music taste and knowledge of the dance floor. Key Clef sound doesn’t hit the surface but instead aims to channel emotions and contact between her music and the audience.

During the pandemic she founded ACXS, a community of artists with a common profit through the production and sale of sample packs created using instruments provided by partnerships with professional audio equipment brands. The roster of this project includes artists such as Alessandro Adriani, Silent Servant, Neel, The Lady machine, Marco Shuttle, Iren Amnes and many more. Key clef not only wants to bring its music to the public but also wants to give its commitment to the environment by creating projects that can be useful to a network of artists.

This was one of those sets that just leaves you blown away when the dust settles....the only word reverberating in my head for hours afterwards was 'wow'...took me some time and a bottle of red to come down from the experience......It was a total honour and privilege to have been asked to close out the Warehouse stage on Thursday evening at this fantastic festival..... I wasn't expecting such a big turn out or stage.....it was a little bit intimidating at first in all honesty.
It took me a while to get into my groove - but I felt that the set flowed very well once I did (after a pep talk from my good pal @charlesgreen) and it seemed to be well received by the audience.
Here is the final couple of hours of the set - I've uploaded the first 55 minutes seperately.....wasn't feeling that bit anywhere near as much as this.
