I had Spitfire Solo Strings gifted to me a while ago, I’m not even gonna say how long, it’s embarrassing. This track took forever. I knew exactly what I wanted (like I always do), but getting it to sound the way it did in my head? Nope. I lost count of how many times I rage quit.. but I always came back. I’m so glad I’m a stubborn bitch with a caffeine addiction and no sense of when to give up, because now I finally love how it turned out. Worth every dramatic sigh, every thrown cushion, and every “I swear I’m deleting this forever.” 💥🎻☕

I hope it brings you even a sliver of the ridiculous joy I felt when it finally sounded right, because this one nearly broke me and my keyboard. I'm not sure I will ever do another.

☕ The coffee machine let out a steamy wheeze and muttered, “My beans.... my soul.... I can finally rest”.

This is the first in a series of eight easy, acoustic, rather short and inconclusive tracks, which I’ve assembled by working on new and reworking on some old material adding parts and sounds. 
Will anything actually happen in the end? Unlikely. Definitely not here. Here it’s a montage of bare arpeggios in various keys.
I recorded this some weeks ago: sorry about the guitar sound, the string squeak is a bit too much; now, I hope to have fixed that investing in a better and more expensive set of strings.

Former biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier has died on 28th July 2025 while climbing in the Karakorum. A rockfall hit her at high altitude at Laila Peak while she was on the road with her rope partner. Rescue operations were greatly complicated by the dangerous situation.

This tune was supposed to be published with another title and with vocals. It was not finished yet, neither was the life of Laura.

When I finished recording this, I hung my head and cried. Our lives are so short and when it is decided that have to lose many years of it because someone else's perception of who you are gets to impose his will over your life. The losses you bear inside that trap your time can never be relived. What you weren't allowed to experience can never be regained. It sits heavy on the heart and weighs you down. How do you encourage someone through that loss? I write music for him but he will not be able to hear even one song until he becomes a free man.

TWO WORLDS

My music pieces are all piano improvisations expressing emotions. It is music telling stories without the words. In my earIy years I sang and played piano in piano bars or fronted bands of different styles, from country to heavy metal and to 40. I've been composing, teaching and performing most of my life.  I'm getting old(er) now 😔 but the great thing about creating music is it gets better the longer you play, and you have more to write about! 

This is what I leave of me to my generations to come who wonder where their desire to make music comes from. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother were both accomplished pianists when they were young. My son is also exceptional.  My great grandmother and gr grandfather sang and danced in minstrel shows (vaudeville) in the early 1900's. Kids today have no idea what life was like before moving pictures.  I now have great-grandchildren. They will know who I am through my music. When I am gone my music will still be here. What a wonderful thought!
