The genesis of the tracks on the Defiance LP [HOROEX38] (https://soundcloud.com/horolabel/asc-defiance-horoex38-previews) came directly in the aftermath of the Space Echo EP by ASC for Samurai Red Seal. At the time, James made remixes of some of the tracks from this EP in an updated style for use on his last European tour. Two of these remixes make up the Defiance: Prelude release. Space Echo gets rebuilt into a more sinuous, ethereal soundscape, and Reveal is also refined into a graceful flotation device with sprinkles of air from the ether.

Our next podcast contribution is a deep and winding 100-minute-trip through the depths of various genres, which was put together by Wrocław based Glassz. 

Glassz is the Head of music editorial & programming at Radio LUZ 91.6FM, where he is hosting a radio show named "Burn The Roots" every Thursday for 5 years already & he is also one of the promoters behind a party series called "SPLOT".

We stumbled upon Glassz when he made an appearance at Hör Berlin. He instantly catched us with his well curated selection of music. So we are super glad to have him in our podcast series. Standards & Practices return with their second release this year, following the release of Krohn / Mjolsness's superb "Drummer" EP. The first proper Stave release since 2021's collaboration with Karim Maas on UVB-76, "Godless", "Saints No Drum" is a concise and definitive artistic statement from Jonathan Krohn that encompasses everything that made his previous releases so captivating, while taking his sound in exciting new directions.

"Drum 1 - 4" display a level of refinement and restraint rarely heard in modern electronic music, and there's a sustained atmosphere of brooding, simmering tension that's  simultaneously meditative and menacing. The interstitial tracks here ("Fred S", "Krohn / Schneider", "Squared Off", and the title track) add texture, depth, and nuance to a release that adds up to much more than the sum of its parts.

This is more Sound Effects than music, but it's kinda cool. The crashing / scraping / hitting effects are all Yamaha EX7 that I recorded several months ago. I added some spacey sounds to it with Pro-53, a Prophet 5 soft synth from Native Instruments.
