My latest entry to the FB Composer Movie Character Challenge #23 - The Theme for Mad Max (aka Max Rockatansky)

I've composed a theme music for the Mad Max character. As an introduction, I wanted to induce a brief mental image into the audiences' heads as per horror of a nuclear holocaust. The rest of the score shall reflect the brutality and heroism of Max as he roamed aimlessly in the wasteland.  He became a titular hero in all the encounters of various pockets of desperately surviving civilizations.

New funny jazzy instrumental track...
(2nd try cause soundcloud's distribution algorithm f%&ed it up the first time)

Started with the tongue drum melody (free "Smiley Drum" by 8Dio) and added more and more acoustic instruments (bass, flute, marimba), e-piano, and finally the "sloppy fender" (the free "RJS Guitar").

Wanted to go more "jazzy" and "brushy" with the drums, but found those marvelous beats by Eric Harland.

Show Your Teeth

This is a composition that I've created for the Image Challenge (20250103) of the FB Composer Challenge Group. It is also my first attempt to compose a classical piece, more specifically a piano concerto.

I've chosen a classical approach because that was how the image resonated to me. A monotone portrait of a young woman that looks like it was torn from a large fresco painting. Her expression summoned melancholy and regrets. The cracks and ripped edges of the image suggested a broken history of her past and yet her elegance hasn't been completely annihilated in the present.

Taking inspiration from nautical adventure movies and legendary composers such as Korngold, John Williams, Danny Elfman and James Newton Howard, this piece showcases my action and adventure scoring with fast and complex brass passages and string runs to make any violinist want to walk the plank!

Adventure Awaits - Epic Orchestral Adventure Music

I composed and arranged this piece 10 years ago. I wrote it for my baby nephew Idris... Well, baby he was, at the time. He's 10 now and I figured that since I really wanted this piece of music to last forever, I should upgrade its sound.

The original 2014 version was created with the "Music Studio" app on the iPad and I have just merely begun my interest in composing music. Despite the fact that I do not have any means of training in music theory nor handling any instruments. I was pretty much amazed on how I could take 4 measly little notes and expanded it into a full marching orchestra. Henceforth, my musical journey commenced...

Since then, I've gotten myself some decent VSTs and a reliable DAW. So, upon its 10-year anniversary, here's my latest remastered version of "The Idris March".  (*** Note: You can also scroll down to my library list and listen to the original 2014 version and hear the difference.)

A retro Jazz/Funk cinematic piece inspired  by composers of the 60s and 70s, such as Lalo Schifrin and John Barry , Don Ellis, Jerry Goldsmith. etc The style used in movies such as 'Bullitt', 'The French Connection' and the many Cop / Private Detective television series of the period.

My latest entry to the FB Composer Movie Character Challenge #24 - A Theme based on the characters in Mission Impossible franchise.

I've composed a theme music for the entire Impossible Mission Force (IMF), the organization that Ethan Hunt is working under. The first instrument that came to my mind was the electric guitar. I wanted to establish a fast-paced, exciting and on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of rhythm that will resembles the over-the-top actions of the franchise. I've also tried to use electric guitar more often these days because of the edginess of its sound. Previously for Mad Max and now for the IMF.

Mission Impossible: The IMF Theme (Conceptual Score - FB Composer Movie Character Challenge #24)

Started this mockup-like track soundmining 8dio choirs. Suddenly felt a craving for a Hunt for the Red October / Rachmaninov kind of thing and added Olympus Choirs, made by Soundiron, to it. Getting the vocal sounds right. Olympus (men's choir) yielded phrases from a well known chant about Maria, believed to be mother of Jesus. A more recent saviour? Seek out Vasily Arkhipov. A man nowadays profoundly unknown, yet he singlehandedly saved our all lives, back in 1962. This song is about steadfastness and faith in all what is good in men. On whatever side you are.

INFO: Middle aged music maker (and recreational drummer) from the middle of Franconian nowhere arranging music for open minded music lovers who (like me) don't want to listen to the same (kind of) music all/every day - way too boring (or even annoying).

So you'll find all kinds of stuff here, from Space Jazz to Hip Hop, from Synthpop to Triphop, from Folk to Doom, from here to there, from then to now, and many things in between - except for "pure" EDM / Techno / Trance, not my cup of tea. :P 

Many tracks tend towards "alternative pop". Well, if you don't like a song/genre - just skip it! I won't mind...  ;)

P.S.: Before you ask: I (almost) never start with the vocals, asking myself: what strange things could I make with those?

Instead I start making strange music THEN look for some vocal parts that might fit. You'd be surprised how often you get a "match" the moment you throw those in the mix. Well, sometimes it needs a little tweaking... ;)
