Song covers in the style of Wario's GBA titles. Source material can be from anywhere.

Waamixes: songs that are essentially the exact same as the original, but feature Wario soundfont(s). 
The waamix designation still applies to songs that more-or-less match the source material, even if the given MIDI has been heavily edited or doctored.*
Waarangement: songs that use the Wario soundfonts, but also sound sufficiently different from the source material: in the case of tracks that used a pre-existing MIDI, the song is considered the source material, not the .mid. 
Examples of waarangements include "Bad (Mario)", "Doodlecture (WL4II Doodle Woods)", "Fury Rock (WL4II Fiery Cavern)", and so on.

To best exemplify this distinction, compare "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Wa" with WL4II's Toy Block Tower, aka "Ob-la-di Obelisk". 
'Ob-la-wa' is a waamix, because it features WL4's instruments, and changes the drums a bit, but is functionally the same as the original song. 
'Obelisk' on the other hand is a waarangement, because its sound is wholly different to that of the original, due to the addition of swing, parts of the original TBT's drums, etc.

* Examples of this rule would include "I'm Only Sleeping in the Row", which sports a thoroughly repaired melody line and a split-up rhythm section, but only because the melody line was highly inaccurate, and WL4 can't handle so many direct voices as the rhythm section was asking for.

UPDATE: Track listings are now basically in order. I figured it was likely people were turned off by the order I had them in before, but never did anything about it until August 15, 2025. My better work on the soundtrack, unsurprisingly, lay with the tracks I finished later in the project's life. The new track order makes more sense and shows off more of the OST's strong points (mostly because it has the actual levels' tracks earlier on).

The first 111 tracks are taken directly from my pal goawayface's Likes list, because that man has exquisite taste in tunes, and as such serves as a fab test audience*. 
From track 112 up until around 125, it's me trying to predict which would end up on his list, which is harder than it sounds, because sometimes he'd throw me a curveball. Yer gonna be goddamn sure that it's a highlight, though, if it's on here.

I think it turned out pretty well, and I think MS did, as well. Edit: in response to JAWF's critique, I altered the swing for the arpeggio, and now it's been rid of that slight awkwardness. Edit 2: updated the mp3 to be the SynthFont version, as not only is it more up-to-date, but the EP also sounds WAY cooler.

Palm Tree Paradise

Wario Land 4 II: Palm Tree Paradise

I started this track soooo long ago, but once I had it transcribed up to a bit before the first chorus, I knew from how that sounded that this was eventually going to be a project that was worth it. This has been a long time coming, and to me, finishing it is a bigger deal than figuring out whatever the hell Crescent Moon Village is even going to be. 
Some say that a first level's stage theme is incredibly important, and if you ask me, I think this will serve as a great-ass overture.

Things in particular that I like about this track as its own standalone track:
How fuckin' badass the "Shady's Back! Back! Back!" section sounds;
The combination of claps and E3 snares;
DEFinitely the combination of Snaps and D3 snares. That sounds dope as fuck. Originally it was just the snaps, but it lacked the punch heard in the original song's Hi-Hats;
The fact that this song's theme of 'returning after a while' matching with that of WL4II as a whole didn't even register until like two+ days after I started writing up the project;
How melodic and properly "flow-y" the note choices I made for the chorus's vocals (like the phrases and stuff) sound, given the source material.

Other things I like:
The inclusion of the wiew wiewekwewkeakwweaweaeh **BAM!** thing (that took a long time to transcribe, too-- writing the pitch-bend was killer, but it literally sounds JUST like the original if you set that preset to be that same kind of pulse wave);
The inclusion of Em's chikka-chikka sounds (it's a rather small detail but I still like it anyway-- same goes for all the sound effects that I opted to include, but these ones in particular stand out to me);
that including the bit from the end where Em laughs translated so seamlessly to that right-panned Daow channel;

It's time to play "Guess the Source", everyone! I made the transcription myself, so no help there. ...Oh, and speaking of which, I'll betcha this is the first time anyone's made any sort of desk phone sound effect using only WL4 samples.

I'll tell you this, though: the bits of it that I copied down were literally such a pleasantry come from nowhere when I heard it, that I stopped what I was doing just to try and do something musical with it. There's just something so aesthetic about percussive organ chords accompanied by a low A being used as a "Now Dialing" tune of all things.

what's great is my laptop speaker is so awful at anything besides treble that the BandPass on Wehro is practically undetectable without my headphones.

I heard this in Film Class, as the main Riders' leitmotif while watching the ol' 1903 ten-minute film. The final showdown (the location of which I based the thumbnail's scenery on) had a cool addition for the finale where the bass part got fleshed out, and I wanted to do something for it at the very least.

The Great Train WAAbbery

Well where do I start here, just a few weeks ago I met a very nice fellow by the name of MarioSpore (Developer of WL42). To make things short, we met through discord on the Wario Land 4 2 server. We voice chatted and I showed him some of my own music using the fantastic Wario Land 4 soundfont created by Tahutoa. He liked my stuff and the conversation lead to me trying to create a theme for Wario Land 4 2, and now here we are, about 3 weeks after these events took place. 

Song Notes:
Well, I struggled to get the ball rolling at first, making several different themes (which I might release later). I actually settled on a completely different theme, worked on it for HOURS...then forgot to save it...wow Shawn how spicy of you. So, I took a short ONE day break to think about my next move and try not to screw it up again, I took a scrapped WL42 theme and fixed it just so I wouldn't be put too far behind.  Then as the song developed more and more MarioSpore suggested that I try and add a few other themes in as well, I added what MarioSpore told me was one of Tahutoa's favorite tracks, Dust in the Wind. Then I added on of MarioSpore's favorite pieces of music, Sweet Board. Everything else is completely original ad took about 3 weeks, with short little 4 hour work sessions.

Who would've thought that beyond some decent first whacks at waarranging would lie a decidedly very competent composer. Like, he even leitmotifed Sweet Board and I didn't notice it like a dumbass common bumpkin loser boy, on top of creating a catchy-ass theme tune. Serious props to that guy. 
I remember telling mah boi that I was so impressed with what I heard that I was literally no longer internally opposed to having someone else encroach on my turf. 'Cause this shit was dope, and I'm glad to've had the privilege of getting to arrange it beyond what I started with.
AS for my end of the work, here's this. uh
So, I got the final export for the finished MIDI on the 29th or so. I didn't reeeeally bunker down on it until last night, though. The only real changes I made besides adding and rearranging the instruments in certain places were probably utilizing a revolutionary-for-me-and-MS-anyway system that makes the process of adding Preset Events SOOOO much more efficient and somehow managing to fit ALLLLL of this song into a mere 7 channels-- six if you don't really count that Oomph square (and I don't) I used to boost the 16000 freq. range-- and tbh that's pretty amazing for what all's here. I feel like a clever boi righ' bou' now.

It's been literally almost a year since I started making this particular .flp, and one of the earliest confirmed songs. Yesterday MarioSpore reminded me I still had yet to finish it, and so today I somehow managed to pull everything from around 1:12 all the way to the end of the song out of my ass.
