About the CD:
I was always aware of Bukem, another DJ who managed to make underground rumblings to the listeners of the British dance scene without  us seemingly knowing who they even were... we just knew about them anyway.  immediately fell in love with this CD once Makoto's 'Inside Your Love' rolled in with MC Conrad's silky smooth mc'ing riding over the top. I'd always loved drum and bass from a distance, but from hearing that track... I was forever a massive fan. I bought into the Good Looking label, bought alot of old releases, all the mix cd's and then fell in love with Bukem's downtempo sister label 'Cookin Records'. This influence was one of the main sounds of my early vinyl days and has gone on to educate and delight for another decade and more. Play it loud, ride the groove, feel the bass. BUKEM!

Oldskool jungle - intelligent d&b set from LTJ, released Spring 1995. This was copied from cassette tape so not the best sound quality but packed with great tracks - this is side-B (last 45m).

Another outstanding set from back in the day, a rare Progression Sessions live set from Nuernberg, Germany, ~2002. I was sent this by one of the listeners to my YT channel - massive respect to Julia for reaching out to me. I'd not heard this set before and we're not sure which year it's from, I'm guessing ~2002 (this may be the limited edition 2004 PS live set but I can't find any info on that release, plus I had to do a bit of editing to cut out some noise, distortion, etc. so this is unlikely to have been an official release  - if anyone knows please leave a comment). Find more sets like this in my playlists.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
