My friend the Racoon gets into and out of my 90 gallon garbage hopper.. I don’t know how. He never tips it over.. perhaps he teleports into it.

Wonderful heavy synth riff and love that fluttering chorus...Great sound!

Wonderful, playful , swaying sounds....Once encountered a whole family of raccons that we accidently cornered near a dumpster with headlights firmly fixed on the bandits, the mother and father emerged with teeth showing in protection of their young. It made an impression on us for sure as we quickly backed our vehicle up and out of that alley.

This track is a little nuts.....

If you've ever battled a raccoon, this is the song for you, sung from the perspective of the perpetrator. Raccoons are wily little buggers and more than a little guile is needed to control the movements of an animal that has been trapped in a cage before.

Debated with myself a bit on adding more instruments and sounds but in the end decided that less was more. The "rhythm guitar" is a distorted saturated synth and the "lead" is a Logic Pro Heavy Metal guitar manipulated with the pitch stick on my synth. The difficult part was getting the swing on the drums right and the ADSR right on the main synth, modulation and LFO. Also played a bit with the compression to get a breathing sound.

About the raccoon - that battle is ongoing - physical deterrence is now in place.

The raccoon, also spelled racoon and sometimes called the common raccoon or northern raccoon to distinguish it from the other species, is a mammal native to North America. It is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in), and a body weight of 5 to 26 kg (11 to 57 lb). Its grayish coat mostly consists of dense underfur, which insulates it against cold weather. A deep and dark song about sorrow and sadness. Initially written on piano, I decided to add dissonances and abstract soundscapes. I am very happy that Michael leaned into the dark theme and wrote sparse lyrics with a lot of meaning in between the words.

This song started around the New Year holiday, when Josh was playing around with a looper beat on his bass. He came up with the bass line and structure for it before turning it over the the rest of the Eclectic Collective to work with. 
  Ken was first up, giving the beat its due as a real drummer, and making it his own, expertly, as always. JJ was up next with his dynamic, lush organ, propping up the groove and adding sonic flavor throughout. Stephen came through after JJ with his foundatoinal, gritty, groovy guitar. It was sitting there ripe for a melody at this point, so Josh heard and added a melody vaguely inspired by the Simpson's theme and added it with his electric guitar. Tez wrapped the whole thing up with the exciting "synth" part you hear in the middle with his custom Tele, which he processes through a Line 6 interface.
  Once it was in the bag, Tez did the honors of producing and mixing it for us, and he did so exactly as we wanted it.
  This is an example of a song Josh started with a groove and set loose on the rest of the band. It is also a good example of what happens when we're all moving towards the same vision. We hope you enjoy hearing this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.
