AB Playlist 084 Part 1

When Legpuppy asked if I fancied remixing another of their tracks, I jumped at the chance.  Out came my dusty guitars, the old bass and well, this is what happened.  Punk? Rock? Dance? Pop? I have no idea what you call these three and a half minutes…but wow, were they fun to put together and I still feel somewhat breathless by the end.

I have been playing around with.....ii V I progressions and the Bebop A dominant scale. I call this one an Indie Dark Jazz flavor. Hope you will like some part of it and maybe hum along before it ends.....

Final mix down to a MARA MCI JH110 1/4inch 2-track at 15 ips using ATR Master Tape. I used an input and output transformer to give some additional harmonic distortion......I just like pushing the buttons and watching the reels spin…;-)

He has supported the project! For many months (while the track was preserved on my hard drive) he encouraged me to release this song.

The background for the inspiration of course is Homer and the tales on the Trojan war. But Kassandra does not tell a story – it’s a kind of a painting with an ancient scenery or maybe just a sketch: Kassandra in front of the burning city. And it could be a modern painting. We are in a distance of more than 3.000 years to the plot of the ancient tales – and still mankind has Kassandras and tears in front of burning cities.

Working on Kassandra i had in mind from the beginning that Cindy will take the main voc in this song. So i wrote the harmonies and the song structure with that in mind and i love how she sings the song. Kassandra also includes a few notes played with a Greek Baglamas and helps the song to get a special note. This string instrument is the small sister of a Bouzouki.

“If you point one finger, there are three more pointing back at you”! Riffindots doesn’t necessarily tackle the political issues of today, but rather she turns them inward. “Filth Tank” recounts that in all of us is inner turmoil and ugliness and it must manifest itself into an exterior human form that we all abhor but we just can’t get enough! So now your parade float awaits you! 

A seething guitar intro ushers you and a different guitar takes over chiming throughout as if it’s reverberating over a vast lake. Once you’re in, you’ll realize that this track is anthemic.

Cet album s’efforce de mener sa réflexion sur deux axes en parallèle :

Le plus évident est la satire du milieu de l’industrie musicale dans son intégralité en essayant de n’épargner personne, à l’aube de sa disparition il me semblait important de rendre hommage comme de critiquer ce qui le mérite dans ce milieu, voir la beauté de ces pionniers de mouvements cultes et malheureusement bien exploités par une industrie qui n’a d’artistique que la matière première qu’elle exploite jusqu’à son extraction totale comme toute bonne industrie à l’erre du néolibéralisme sans contre-pouvoir.
Lassée des aléas et "des faiblesses » de ces artistes qu’elle draine, l'industrie pense pouvoir reproduire elle-même les codes musicaux voire même en créer de nouveau, (elle a déjà bien réussi à créer tout un tas d’étiquettes) mais force est de constater que c’est une très mauvaise alchimie pour ceux qui aiment l’art mais cette magie noire fonctionne parfaitement pour ceux qui aiment l’or et l’on sait que la qualité de la matière première n’a que peu d’importance quand on maitrise les outils de propagande pour dicter ce que devra aimer la foule.-

C’est aussi une façon de créer un parallèle de réflexion entre la mort de Dieu grace aux penseurs modernes et qui petit à petit gagne les esprits dans la culture occidentale et ce qu’il reste de ces dogmes créés en leur honneur pour favoriser leur contrôle et leur domination sur les peuples.
Il serait fou de penser qu’il suffisait de tuer Dieu pour s’en émanciper, malheureusement au-delà de la figure de Dieu, il y a tous les tentaculaires dogmes qui subsistent et qui par, leurs élégances, leurs sophismes, leurs manipulations ou auto-manipulations savent séduire encore et il reste alors le chemin individuel que chacun pourra parcourir pour qu’enfin Dieu n’occupe plus un seul coeur humain.

Il y aurait aussi un troisième axe et celui-ci plus personnel, où chacun de ces personnages serait une parcelle de mon être, car il serait bien évidement trop caricatural et manichéen de penser les choses de manière aussi binaire, il me semble que chacun de nous peut être une industrie, un lot de dogme, un tyran quand on utilise mal les ingrédients dont on est constitué.
Tous sont utiles à condition d’appliquer le juste dosage. J’espère alors que cet album pourra servir de balance et qu’il saura rendre hommage tant à la machine qu’au rêveur et par là même éviter qu’une de nos voix parle plus fort que les autres pendant quelque temps.

Bonne écoute, j’espère que ce son pourra vous faire voyager, il est tout au moins fait avec beaucoup de passion et une réelle volonté d’y mettre du sens comme de l’âme.

Hello Soundcloud, thanks for the Listens, Likes and Support. Im from Melbourne Australia, I have been playing guitar for many years now and played in two bands during the 80's & 90's (STOLEN CAR original) & (STORM cover),both bands never released any material. Since 2010 i have been writing songs and tunes and recording them in my music room (3rd Bedroom), i play Guitar, Bass, Keys, BFD2 Drums(programmed)and Vocals on all of my songs which i class as Demo's, I love all types of music but Hard Rock, Rock to Alternative appeals to me most.
