The great Vaughn Wiester let me solo with the band on his swingin' arrangement of Lil Hardin's, "Struttin' With Some Barbecue." It is a joyful and humbling experience to play with the best jazz cats in town!

Fanfare for Rich was commissioned originally by Dale Nawrocki for trumpet choir for an ITG Performance in 2023.  I reworked it for brass band in 2024, and this is the premiere performance by the Brass Band of Columbus at Peace United Methodist Church in Pickerington, Ohio.  It is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Richard Burkart, former professor of trumpet at The Ohio State University.

This work was written in honor of James Swearingen's illustrious career at Capital University. In it, I used bits of his first published work, "Exaltation" as well as bits of Capital's Alma Mater, and a famous accordion tune that Jim played when he was younger.  It is scored for Wind Ensemble with electric bass, electric guitar and pipe organ.  The organ part can be played on a keyboard.  This premiere performance was given by the Capital University Symphonic Winds under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Gershman on October 3, 2015.

Tony Zilincik is a composer, performer, educator and conductor living in Columbus, OH. He is an associate professor of music at Capital University where he teaches composition, tuba, euphonium, orchestration, and theory. He also coaches brass chamber ensembles including quintets, brass choir, and Capital Thunder, the resident tuba and euphonium ensemble.  He is the principal tubist of The Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly in the central Ohio Area with the New Basics Brass Band.  He is the Eb tuba soloist and assistant conductor of the Brass Band of Columbus, and his music has been performed around the world.  He is published by  Cimarron Music, Devilish Publications, and Hal Leonard.
