A long, cold and snowy winter is finally coming to an end. Just after dawn during a nocturnal unattended sound recording in an old forest. Black grouse is on the leks, and the voices of overflying Whooper swans can be heard. Chaffinches are migrating, and the local Willow tits have begun singing. Black and Great Spotted woodpeckers are drumming, but Ravens steal she show acoustically. Feels good to be alive.

Du nom de Nicolas Machiavel, nous retenons généralement son œuvre majeure, le Prince. Cette œuvre dédiée à Julien ou à Laurent de Médicis, rédigée entre l’été 1513 et le printemps 1514, ne cesse d’être au centre de bien des débats. Mais comme toute œuvre qui se détache d’une vie, on en oublierait presque que Machiavel fut certes écrivain et penseur, mais aussi un homme d’action et un homme de terrain à une époque marquée par les longues guerres d’Italie. 

A travers trois cours d’histoire, Storiavoce vous propose de découvrir un autre Machiavel. Après avoir étudié dans une première émission l’ambassadeur en guerre, nous abordons ici sa pensée entre Histoire et Politique dans "Machiavel ou l’exégèse politique". Jean-Louis Fournel est interrogé par Christophe Dickès. 

Notre invité: Jean-Louis Fournel est professeur à l’université Paris-8 Vincennes/Saint-Denis. Il est l’auteur, avec Jean-Claude Zancarini, professeur des universités émérite à l’ENS de Lyon, de nombreux travaux sur l’histoire de la pensée politique italienne de l’Ancien Régime, dont Les Guerres d’Italie. Les batailles pour l’Europe (1494-1559), La Politique de l’expérience et La Grammaire de la République. Ensemble, ils ont aussi proposé plusieurs éditions françaises commentées des œuvres de Savonarole, Machiavel et Guicciardini. Ils viennent de publier chez Passés / Composés: Machiavel, une vie en guerres (624 pages, 27€).
