And terrifying. Hardly surprising that the thing you want the most is also the thing that scares you the most. So much possibility for loving and being loved… and so much possibility for being hurt and heartbroken. (Again). 

Ok, dear soul - slow… down… 

Before you start picking curtains, lean in to what you are learning. About yourself and about relationships. Let things be what they want to be rather than what you feel it should be.

You almost certainly already know the “Usual Love Story”: Boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after. The End.

Maybe you know someone who fits this story. 

An older couple perhaps, childhood sweethearts who married and stayed together through thick and thin. Bought a home and raised a family, and are now ending their days surrounded by happy kids with even happier grand kids. Still holding hands as they walk through the local park, looking at each other with a soft and fulfilling love in their eyes, every kiss they share is just like the first.

“Wow” you might say when you tell others about them “so good to see that true love can exist in this day and age. How wonderful!”

And in that celebration, you might feel a slight twinge of sadness for your own love story. Deep inside you may feel you’re somehow ‘not doing it right’ and have in some way failed at this most basic human thing. You might also feel you were ‘never given the manual’ so can never really understand how this love thing works anyway.

It’s tricky enough this simple human desire - to love and be loved - without having a nagging sense that everyone else knows something you don’t and is doing it better. All the while knowing that what makes the ‘usual love story’ so enthralling is it is so rare! 

And that’s the problem with the usual love story… it’s not actually so ‘usual’. 

Most of us are quietly living our own ‘unusual love story’ and feeling that we’re a little unusual (or weird, or too much, or unloveable) because of it.

“Unusual Lovesongs” is one soul’s musical journey of finding love in the modern age after the ‘usual love story’ ended without a happy ever after. From learning to ‘swipe right’ and trying to love without labels it’s a heartfelt and funny tale of getting it all wrong, wronger and wrongest.

Each song comes with a love letter to the soul about the learning along the way.
