Deck The Halls

'Tarka the Water Wanderer' for three flutes by Alan Ridout, published by Emerson.  The trio was inspired and based on the book of the same name by Henry Williamson. 

"Tarka lived joyfully, but he was often alone, playing with the sticks and the stones, the colour and movements of water, the trickles, torrents and everlasting pathways to the sea. He explored the sound of wave boom in caves, the gentle gyrations of weedy depths when the sea swell pulsed through rock pools, the shrillness of winter blizzard and the soft midsummers on the moors, when only the curlew and plovers called. The book is the music of water movement, from the 'faint cry of a river new-born...glinting and singing...musical over many stretches of skillet...' to the 'old and deep song of the ocean'." - Richard Williamson on his father's work, 1987
