Standin’ here  quietly, biding my time
Masked up by the supermarket waitin’ in line
One in, one out, never moved a yard
Started to rain now, comin’ down hard.
A shopping cart wheel slams into the back of my heel
She does that one more time it’ll be a homicide deal. ….cue blues…

Lady there got purple hair that’s springin’ out everywhere
Nuthin’ better to do, showin’ off her new tattoo
It says “Don’t be like all the others just be the unique you”
Cool dude with the laceless shoes says all his friends got that one too.
Bald guy with the funny eyes is looking at his watch
Then pauses thoughtfully, readjusts his crotch. ….cue blues…

Now it’s just a guess, I realise, but I’m thinkin’ maybe from his size
Could it be him they say has eaten all the pies?.
There’s a real skinny guy too, down there at back of the queue
Looks like he could do with eatin’ a pie two.
Lady right in front of him ‘bout to go into labour
I can tell from here her fella’s facemask is doin’ all of us a favour. ….cue blues…

That twitchy kid from skid row ain’t no good at keepin’ quiet
I’m a-figurin’ that sugar makes up most of his staple diet.
His momma ain’t noticed he’s vibratin’ down the line
‘cause her face is in her iphone, most all of the time.
And the gappy toothed little girl with the sweet Shirley Temple curls
Is starin’ at the pie guy with the funny eyes
Who’s talkin’ over there to the billowed purple hair, and…..
Ah man this line ain’t ever goin’ anywhere….cue blues…

My debut album Strange Part of the Country earned ★★★★ from Q Magazine, a Blues Matters cover feature, and reached #3 on the U.S. Alternative Radio Chart, with airplay on BBC Radio 2, WWOZ New Orleans, and KROQ Los Angeles. Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Marc Ribot, and Danny Thompson have all been part of the journey.

I’m now finishing a new album with Marc Ribot, Tchad Blake, and Danny Thompson — music that digs deep, raw and real.

Music is life, life is music ;-)

Somewhere I read that SoundCloud is the DIY of the music world.  Very true for most of us wannabe (famous) musicians.  For those who were lucky enough to spend years in an actual sound studio, maybe this is a slam dunk. For the rest of us, it's like being the Wright brothers before they fully understood the science behind aerodynamics much less get a machine to fly.

I have learned a lot in 2018 thru 2019 while playing at small, local venues.  It's a lot easier to sit back in a "recording studio".  I do put that in quotes since, for me, this is just a couple of microphones connected to a DAW which is connected to a computer with some multi-track software and some free plugins to enhance the finished product.  I believe there are about 5 unique disciplines to learn which include: playing an instrument, singing, doing both together, using a microphone, connecting with the audience.  I have much more respect for stage performers now, especially solo artists. Now, if one adds the discipline of recording engineer, well then, you have a well rounded musical background. 

I do hope that you enjoy some of my tunes.  I'm always happy to hear from listeners who have something meaningful to share, even when it is not particularly flattering or in someway odd.  I'll even try to answer any questions you may have.  Remember that you are never too old nor too young to create and share your music and/or share your knowledge.
