angelboy (they/she) is a DJ, producer, writer, and sociologist from Amsterdam whose work is driven by a search for sensuality; in sound, in movement, and in connection.

Their sets move between techno, hardgroove, progressive house, electro, trance, and South American-infused rhythms, always with a strong sense of groove. Less about throwing your hands in the air, more about getting the hips moving.

Shaped by early 2000s pop and R&B, as well as the textures of industrial, angelboy brings together sexiness and grit. Whether in a sweaty basement or on a big system, they build sets with care.
As a DJ, angelboy has played across a wide range of underground spaces, queer parties, and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad. 

angelboy is co-founder of the FLINTA* sex-positive party Rubi, a resident at Amsterdam’s queer party The Planet, and host of the monthly Echobox radio show Hysteria, where each episode explores a different emotion through a mix of leftfield sounds.

With a background in sociology and education on gender, sexuality, and safer clubbing, angelboy sees music and nightlife as tools for resistance, intimacy, and joy.

As well as running two labels (BPitch and UFO Inc.) and performing regularly at prestigious clubs and festivals all over the world she is also an accomplished producer with eight solo albums under her belt and an extensive catalogue of singles, EPs and remixes.

Playin' the right tapes and records at the right time.

(Oct, 1986) It was a snowy day on the peak of the Ajusco, and the reptiles –usually congregated in its heights- descended, fleeing hysterically from the tempest. As hospitals tend to be open spaces in the Mexican metropolitan area, it was an easy task for the varied cold-blooded fauna to infiltrate the building where Marco Kalach had been born. In a moment of distraction in his parents behalf (Dr Kalach and Ms León) both exhausted from the multiple hours of pain the birth of their first child imposed, it is believed little Marco was bitten by the most dangerous type of desert lizard in the Mexican Republic. The bite was survived with astonishing velocity. There were nearly no visible immediate side effects, however this early encounter with the monstrous creature left indubitable traces of various diseases. He was raised with love and care yet always with medical struggles related to the previously described incident: a mild case of aphasia, various symptoms shared with those diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome, hypochondria, an uncontrollable sense of creativity and -most visibly- dark circles surrounding his eyes.His inevitable lizard-like behavior is also linked to various difficulties he faced in the area of academics. Expelled as many times as he was admitted to an educational institution, his artistic genius was constantly repressed by the sickening hierarchical values of modern tutelage. With support from his family however (most importantly his little sister who constantly aided him with his tedious literary related assignments) he eventually found the academic freedom he had sought throughout his entire childhood in an exile at a gnome community where he is currently the only gnome.
