This recent project has really inpired me to dig deeper into the golden age of D&B. As an extention of my best selling 95 mix - THIS IS JUNGLE, these are the tunes that didnt get recorded. A new off-shoot of Vinyl Fanatiks. Acid Boom digs deeper into the history of hardcore and goes to the layer before... the early 90s UK acid scene.

These Tone Def tracks were written in 1990 and 1991 and have only recently been discovered on 1/4 tape and have never been released before.

KOOR08 is an homage EP from Out Of Romford to the Original Shakedown FM Crew but even if you weren't part of the crew, as long as you love your jungle then you will ove this EP from start to finish. This 4 track EP is truly something special.
The A side is in fact new jungle that you'd believe was just lost music from yesteryear. The reason it sounds so good is because Flatliner & DJ Infinity are orignal junglists from back in the day, whilst DJ Sparky & Hornchurch Hardcore are relatively new, they still make music that is completely faithful to the old skool jungle sound.
Then there is the AA side, and these tracks are in fact taken from long forgotten DAT tapes from 1994. They are 2 slices of history that for one reason or another never got released back then. The 90s loss is our gain.

With releases on 7th Storey Projects, Green Bay Wax, Dark Age and Parallax, Tim Reaper first got into drum & bass through an Andy C mix CD found in an issue of Mixmag and released his first production in 2010. Launching his imprint Globex Corp alongside Dwarde in 2016, the pair have hosted artists such as Dev/Null, Worldwide Epidemic, Gand, Mr Sensi and more across 10 volumes. Now teaming up with Lobster Theremin for a collaborative release LT-GLOBE-XXX which features tracks from Slacker, Dwarde, Background and Marco Lazovic. 

For this mix, Tim Reaper introduces us to his imprint saying, "for anyone who may not be familiar with the Globex Corp series on 7th Storey Projects that me and Dwarde have been making tunes for, here's a mix I did a few months ago which contains every single tune from Vol. 1-9. Shouts to Simon from 7th Storey Projects, all the collaborators (Dev/Null, Worldwide Epidemic, Gand, Sonar's Ghost, Fringe & Mr Sensi) and the 4 remixers involved in the next Globex Corp release."

The label was established in 2018 as a means to release the back catalogue of renowned Jungle Techno label Underdog Recordings, which ran from 1993-1995. It quickly expanded from beyond the original goal and now reissues sought after, rare and classic records from the Jungle, Rave, Bleep House, Techno and Jungle Techno genres.

The Vinyl Fanatiks aim is to track down and work with the original artists from the early 1990’s, to reissue their music on vinyl only, and to support the record hunters and vinyl diggers from around the world with quality pressings and superb mastering; a way to show respect and share the story of those that created these incredible records.

The vision is not to focus on the obvious artists of that time but to dig a little deeper and find those that came and went but their legacy still holds true to this day. Some of these producers only released one record and vanished soon after but their music still resonates into the 21st century, accumulating new audiences across the globe, far beyond the catchment of the UK pirate radios and muddy fields of 25 years ago. What happened to these artists? Its Vinyl Fanatik’s mission to find out!

Each record captures a moment in time, a vibe that was true and innocent from a period when music was far more synonymous with rebellion and anarchy than today’s finely polished productions and conformist club pop. This music itself bred on the outskirts of society, fuelled by the passion of the rave, its lineage stemming from the Acid House era of 1988. Often produced on minimal equipment, with minimal skills and knowledge, its audio blueprint transcends to new generations, a rawness that no expensive audio plug in could ever create in this present day.

Vinyl Fanatiks wants to pay homage to these young producers who forged the foundations of the multi-million pound EDM scene we have now. Each of these artists has their own tale to tell, their own memories to share. Limited by their own geographical status within the UK, they somehow still all managed to connect and influence each other, years before the internet, mobile phones and social media that we have today. But the music knew no limits and had no boundaries, transcending generations to this day.
