Solid Steel (6th June) Addison Groove is our guest in Hour 1 with the most diverse mix he's ever done and perfect for a sunny weekend. We kick off with a dubwise selection from Lee Perry, Augustus Pablo, King Tubby and Linval Thompson, then two from Angola, Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, Gil Scott Heron and Antibalas. Then it's onto hip hop from LL Cool J, J Dilla and the classic Dilla produced 'Drop' by The Pharcyde. Finally we switch up to a Footwork selection including music from his friend Rashad RIP, The Dutty Inspectors and an EXCLUSIVE premiere for 'Love Will Save' by Addison Groove from his forthcoming 'Turn up the Silence' EP on Modeselektor's label 50 Weapons.

This one's a treat, recorded live from their home town residency night in Shortts Terrace, Waterford, the Get Down Edits lads play a wide range of musical styles, tempos and you can really hear how comfortable they are with the crowd.

It's inspiring to see how far Get Down Edits have come in the last few years since that Herb Albert edit hit my inbox and the first time we had them as guest dj's at one of our nights in Dublin to now, where you are very likely to catch them djing in any European city most weekends.

Get Down Edits Bio
Since the late 90’s Waterford born duo Daz and Martin have been tearing up dance floors across the country and further a field with their unique fusion of 70’s and 80’s funk and soul, Nu-Disco and their own disco edits; Get Down Edits: Vol 1-3. The two lads have bags of experience to match their talent and our guaranteed to get a party started as soon as the turntables are switched on. With a mammoth vinyl collection between the two of them you can expect to hear an eclectic mix of tracks every time they put together a set, making each one unmissable. The boys have gained praise from some of the biggest names in House such as Brooklyn stalwart Kerri Chandler, who was greatly impressed by the ‘Get Down Edits’ sound when he played alongside the pair a few years back. With ‘Get Down Edits: Vol 1-3’ all selling out it is clear to say that their productions are as tight as their sets. Get Down Edits have also released tracks on a range of other labels including Disco Deviance, Editorial, Midnite Riot, Glenview Records and Los Grandes. The Get Down Edits groove has been brought to festivals and gigs across Europe such as the Electric Elephant festival in Croatia, Disco Deviance in London and back to back dates in Budapest at the end of 2011. Daz and Martin have also brought some great international acts to our shores for their own successful club-night, ‘Get Down’ (Chez Damier, John Daly and Greg Wilson to name but three). 2012 has been a great year to date with gigs in Newcastle and in London at the House of Disco Warehouse Project, it also seen their most recent edit outing, Get Down Edits Vol:3, selling out on Juno within a few days of its release. The guys are already making plans for volume four which is sure to be jam packed with killer edits yet again. Cititrax is thrilled to present a full length LP entitled Adieux Au Dancefloor by Montreal based recording artist, Marie Davidson. Marie Davidson has emerged as one of the foremost electronic artists working in contemporary pop today. As a long-time member of Essaie Pas (DFA Records), Davidson has had the opportunity to hone her many talents. She has been participating in the city’s vibrant experimental community for much of her adult life. However, in 2012 she began to unveil compositions under her own name, revealing a solo artist who possessed the combined confidence and vulnerability required to write, produce and perform unaccompanied. Davidson’s intimate solo work is embodied through a host of synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines which coalesce in synchronized harmony, punctuated by vocals, half sung, half spoken in both French and English. She masterfully shapes the overall mood, themes, emotion, expression and intensity of her work, which gives the final result a distinctive, cinematic quality. 
With Adieux Au Dancefloor, Marie makes a slight departure from her last two releases, via Holodeck (2015) and Weyrd Son (2014), by creating her first fully dancefloor oriented piece of work. Through the 45 minutes of music that comprises the album, she experiments with pop structures, defines her voice, and layers rhythms to make complex and beautiful techno tracks. She closes the album with the title track in classic Chanson style.
Adieux Au Dancefloor will be released on October 6th. The record will be pressed on 160 gram white vinyl and will feature photographs by the equally talented Corinne Schiavone. The record will be housed in a full color printed heavyweight jacket along with matching printed inner sleeve. Pre-order available now. Digital release to follow.

John Gómez is a new school tastemaker. The London based, Madrid born DJ has ties to essential collectives like Rush Hour—who he represents on a regular NTS show—as well as Invisible City and Music From Memory, for whom he recently compiled the critically acclaimed Outro Tempo: Electronic and Contemporary Music from Brazil, 1978-1992. A deep digging, versatile selector, he covers everything from house to afro, forgotten soul to niche disco. The best place to hear all these is at Tangent, the top East London party he has run with Nick the Record for the last few years. 

Across seventy odd minutes here, John keeps things sunny and tropical, with worldly sounds from niche disco, boogie and afro scenes all over the world. Each track oozes a sense of musicality as well as a solid underlying groove. The tracks feel joyful and happy, innocent and inviting and are all sequenced in a way that allows each one to really shine. All in all, it makes for a perfect soundtrack to a summer’s afternoon.
