The three tracks for this EP are lovingly crafted using his collection of vintage drum machines, samplers and expansive modular setup, and are presented in both stereo and Dolby Atmos. Opener 'havin it' is quick-stepping, low slung house cut lit up with glistening chords and gorgeous soul samples that shine through next to low-key but euphoric 90s trance progressions. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside while remaining locked to the groove. 'lush' is just that, with summery harp strums shimmering across dusty and speedy deep house drums that sweep you up and fill your heart with hope and joy. It's a richly layered sound with a curiousness that truly enchants. Lastly, 'WNE' straightens your back with upright and snappy drums, woody percussion and frayed edged chords that have a cosy nostalgic glow. Coated in a lo-fi haze, plunging bass and aching vocal fragments pull you in different directions as you hurry to keep up with the frisky groove.

Dream Chimney proudly presents ‘Tidal Figures’ the new EP from Paris based producer Sim Fossil. The release is a deep dive into cosmic soundscapes, synth melodies, heavy basslines weaving together elements of house, nu-beat, and ambient into a truly unique, low-BPM fusion. Across four original tracks, ‘Tidal Figures’ explores a quiet duality of space and time. ‘Echo Marina’ and ‘Nyrosine’ bask in a soft, melodic glow, while ‘Null Meridian’ and ‘Backcurrent’ plunge listeners into a darker, even slower synthetic haze. The tracks are all driven by deep, slow basslines and shimmering synths that feel heavy and submerged, reminiscent of a half-speed Harold Faltermeyer adrift in an underwater voyage.

Maktub Recording returns with its third release. This time, it's a collaboration between the label's founder, FUNKE, and the canarian DJ and producer Daniel Rodriguez. The synergy between the two artists is captured in this three-track EP that seeks to escape the commercial chaos plaguing the scene, seeking out sounds and sonic escapes born from the soul, while respecting underground culture. 
"Buenos días" is a track influenced by electro, acid, and early 20th-century tech house, with a strong groove and a certain emotional charge. "Áureo" is a melodic and progressive track with an unexpected twist in the middle that will leave no one indifferent. Finally, "Nur die Musik" is a darker and more mysterious track that achieves a melancholic feeling in the listener.

After releasing several EP on Accents Records, ARTS, and Diffuse Reality. Pablo Diarra aka Saïph launches his own label Songe Anima records (Sonam rec) with this first release Griffe Sonam EP.

The EP's surprising influences include techno, contemporary trance and ambient, with acoustic recordings drums somewhere between, Afrobeat, jazz and Maracatu, and colder textured pads. This EP feels both grounded and ethereal.

The whole low-end spectrum stares us in a very dub-like direction, the snare, Rim, hats game is as swift as it is aerial, while the electro sound design elements take us, through experimental effect, into a vast, hushed soundscape.

The EP can't be summed up in a single musical style, and explores musical universes we've rarely heard together. The resulting unity is a mature, rhythmically complex sound, an insider's music that's easy to access because it's so danceable.

'After Trane'is an explicit tribute to John Coltrane. Here, the main lead evokes a sound somewhere between trumpet, flute and organ. Its polyrhythmic tangle with a second lead to the 5th can evoke a Balkan fanfare, a Celtic ritornello, West African chants, or even an Oriental dimension; there's something quite universal about this appearance; whose main characteristic is to produce a trance effect. The closing solo may evoke something of Joe Zawinul, and in some aspects takes the allure of a Coltranian pastiche in its articulation. You'll even recognize a brief citation of the Impressions theme, breaking through the mix and setting the track on fire at 5''33.

For our second Truancy Volume of the year and our 168th overall, we're able to welcome a rising talent based in Boston by the name of Isabella. Having made her big break last year with a killer split on Börft alongside the equally as talented and on the rise Bergsonist, her music has crept up on a number of weighty compilations in 2017. Last month saw a track called 'Dying & Denying' appear on Allergy Season and Discwoman's 'Physially Sick' and just this week she dropped another cut on 1221's 'Comp 4' which also featured music from close Truant affiliate 2Lanes and number of other producers such as Beta Librae, Umfang and Shawn Sullivan. With news of Peder Mannerfelt curating a compilation which she'll be contributing to, in the pipeline this year, her name is definitely one to keep an eye out for. We caught up with Isabella to discuss how she was brought to her current sound, her time spent living and studying in Boston, and how her visual work informs her music. Her mix, which she describes as a collage like assembly of sounds is wonderfully woven collection of experimental touches and tape manipulation, with some hard hitting hardware jams thrown in for good measure.

The next release on the always impeccable Subtext is by Yair Elazar Glotman, following on from his 2015 'Études'. Based in Berlin, Yair Elazar Glotman is a classically-trained musician and sound artist. 

Besides previous works on Subtext including Études, a collaborative score with James Ginzburg experimental film Nimbes, and the eponymous debut of his Blessed Initiative project, Glotman has released music via Opal Tapes and others under the nom de plume Ketev.

Yair Elazar Glotman is a composer and sound artist living and working in Berlin. His focus is on experimental electroacoustic composition, sound installations and sound sculptures. 

In addition, he works as a sound designer and composer for film, dance and video art. His education includes Classical Double-Bass, electroacoustic composition and Art and Media studies, where he explored the gap between sound art and contemporary music. 

His work has been played at various sound venues and music festivals around the world, including ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Volksbuehne, CTM festival, Steirischer Herbst, Donau Festival and Atonal festival.
