His songs are intended not only to be heard, but listened to; while the music is catchy and accessible, each lyric is carefully crafted to paint a picture greater than the sum of its parts. Personal stories of love, loss, politics, and self-improvement permeate his songs, which range from high-energy and emotional to slow and thoughtful to up-beat and playful.
