Reaching over 350,000 weekly listeners, iRadio is the leading CHR station in 15 Irish counties and this month the station launched a new Wisebuddah station sound to celebrate the award of their new 10-year broadcasting licence from the BAI (Broadcasting Authority of Ireland). 
 
Their package, built around a brand-new sonic identity, is a mixture of custom iRadio IDs and re-sing IDs from Wisebuddah’s popular Fun Radio package. Wisebuddah also produced bespoke News and Sports compositions, along with toolkit elements for branding song intros and other station imaging. 

Mark Cunning, CEO, iRadio, said: “We loved working with Wisebuddah. Their ability to understand our goals and ambitions… even to smile and nod at some of the crazier stuff was really important throughout this project. To sit in the studio, be part of the creative process and to hear and see the project come to life was fascinating.”

Paul Duffy, iRadio’s Head of Station Sound, said: “We wanted a package that stood out in a busy market and set the standard. If you want the best, you’ve got to work with the best. For us, this is where the fun starts. We have a new set of toys and we’ll use them to evolve and innovate our audio based around this package.”

German public broadcasting station, 1LIVE, have launched an extensive overhaul of their station sound and imaging, teaming up with London-based production company Wisebuddah for the first time.

Every day, nearly 3 million people listen to the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) station across North-Rhine Westphalia, tuning in for some of the most varied and progressive content on German radio. 

Reflecting this, Wisebuddah have produced a package that features over 35 distinct compositions, ranging from IDs to Show Openers and talkover Beds, along with a brand-new set of Information Elements and Sweepers. The new audio identity is then all brought together with the station’s brand-new sonic logo, which has been designed to underpin the uniqueness of the German station.

David Mannheim, Brand Manager, 1LIVE added: “For the “new 1LIVE” we were looking for an individual and unmistakable package that sounds urban, modern, warm, young, dynamic, but by no means cheap or stressful. In addition, the new sound package should pick up on current music trends and optimally adapt to the 1LIVE playlist. In the first meetings we explained to the Wisebuddah team our philosophy and conveyed what DNA 1LIVE carries. 

This balancing act - intense and dynamic, but not sounding stressful or annoying - was implemented very well by Wisebuddah. The final elements are very easy to drive and combine optimally with the range of content that 1LIVE displays daily in the program: events, comedies, topics from the sector, current news and listener interaction.”

VIRGIN RADIO GETS NEW REELWORLD SOUND FOR 2021

Virgin Radio stations in Romania, Switzerland and Oman have all unveiled an innovative new station sound developed and produced by the team at ReelWorld.

Mitch Calladine is the Group Production Director for Virgin Radio International: “We were looking for a new sound for the stations and had the opportunity to plan music, lyrics, cast vocalists and voices from scratch with no limits on creativity. ReelWorld have delivered a world class package for Virgin Radio Romania, Switzerland, and Oman that has exceeded our expectations as the Virgin Radio network continues to grow.”

Incorporating original music and bespoke imaging, the rhythmic package is a fuzion of hip hop and R ‘n’ B sounds to help the station’s contemporary music proposition punch through on air.

ReelWorld Managing Director Anthony Gay said: “We recognise how important the Virgin Radio brand is and it was an honour to help innovate the station sound and find a new creative approach to reflect the music on these stations. This project was a lot of fun for the team to work on and despite the challenges of the year we’re thrilled to hear it now on air to help kick off 2021. Turn it up, turn it loud!”
