The Terrors of the Forbidden Lands

While looking for new inspiration I came across a VST plugin in my DAW which I haven’t used before. The plugin is called Vital and is a digital synth. While using Vital the inspiration came naturally. This song is one of the first attempts that came out of playing and experimenting. Just a simple arpeggiated chord and some basslines underneath. The place where I went to for therapy sessions was close by a school. Most of the time when I was finished with a session I could hear children outside in the playground. One day I just randomly started recording the sounds of the children playing outside. I thought this ‘field recording’ fitted the ominous sounding synth. In my opinion this made the song complete. The title was something I had in my mind for a long time and it’s multi-interpretable. Those are the best titles.

“Kind” is the first jam I recorded on my new synthesizer: the Solar 42F from Elta Music. I named the track “Kind” because this instrument has many buttons, switches and lights that let the child in me play and go on a journey of discovery. 

Of course I use an Arabic scale in this first jam :D If you know my music, you also know my preference for Middle East influences. After my first attempts, I was glad that I got the 24 oscillators more or less in tune with each other - I think that was my biggest difficulty.
