Continuing to expand their repertoire further afield into the realms of drum & bass, Hospital Records proudly welcome Soulvent Records into the family! Soulvent has been at the forefront of the new generation of drum and bass since 2014. Founded by Joe Goss, Jack (Pola) Higgins and Liam Holyoak-Rackal, it all started over a conversation at a dubstep rave in the toilets. Since then, Soulvent have gained a reputation for their high calibre releases and vibe-packed events. The ‘Soulvent Meets Hospital’ compilation sees both imprints unite over 14 brand spanking new remixes of a selection of classics from the Hospital and Soulvent back catalogues - this is a serious sound collision!

Tuck straight in to the album with Nu:Tone’s dreamlike remix of the soul-oozed ‘Butterfly Effect’ by GLXY featuring Hugh Hardie and Visionobi. With the original racking up well over 1 million streams as well as support from Skankandbass, it is without a doubt one of Soulvent’s most remarkable releases. Nu:Tone delivers mesmerizing rolling drumwork, fluttering synths and his signature deep bassline injections on his 2022 remix.
 
Hugh Hardie steps up to the plate on remix duties for Japan-based Mountains’ electrifyingly feel-good track ‘I’m Free’ (feat. Kojo)’. Taking it into darker territories, Hugh switches it up and provides an upbeat stepper layered with mind warping basses and skittery plucks which are a sublime complement to the original which was taken from Mountain’s debut self-titled LP on Soulvent Records in March 2022.

Rising talent and one-to-watch DJ and producer Vektah has been making noise in the scene since his debut EP ‘Culture Shift’ dropped on Soulvent last year. Vektah heads up a jungle infused remix of Fred V’s ‘Program & Control’, taken from Fred V’s debut solo album ‘Radiate’. Expect enchanting chimes, shimmering synthesis and crystal clear percussion.

VA EP series ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ which shone a light on some of the scene’s mosst exciting upcoming talent. Whiney crafts up an instant rave damager with system thumping wobbles and pounding drums. 

Staples of the drum & bass scene Pola and Bryson delve deeply into Bop x Subwave’s lofi-meets-electronica inspired anthem ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’. On this rendition, the duo continue to demonstrate their multifaceted production styles through crisp percussion and gorgeous atmospherics.

We’re very excited to welcome Jon Tho’s soul-stirring sounds to our catalogue this Summer! The Portuguese producer is also the brain behind Surveillance Music - an imprint that has been releasing its own unique brand of emotionally charged-come-tech-heavy sonics since 2019. While he initially cut his teeth under a different moniker, since launching Jon Tho in 2020, he’s achieved releases on Galacy, Blackout, Elevate and of course Surveillance.

The playfully titled ‘Don’t Want To Know’ unfolds with unsettling pads, twinkling synths, and a driving rhythm thanks to its pumping bassline. These elements are further complemented by warped vocal samples and gliding sweeps that litter the arrangement, resulting in a heart-wrenching piece which is suited for headphones and dancefloors alike. 

On the slightly more joyfully-named ‘Smile’ Jon teams up with one half of rising duo Circumference, in the form of Freshney. Together they deliver more thumping rhythms, in a track filled to the brim with bulging bass, emotive piano chords and powerful momentum. The imaginative structuring helps build tension, culminating in an expansive soundscape, dense with harmonic twinkles that are sure to bring a grin to your 
face this year.

Japanese-Laotian-Australian artist http://soundcloud.com/fuj kicks of 2016 in much the same fashion as 2014 and 15 – with a hotly anticipated release on AutomAte Deep!  With such a cultural crossover building up his personal influences, there's something uniquely diverse about Fuj's productions. Clean and crisp on first glance, peer deeper into the abyss and intricate soundscapes appear from below the surface.

Death Trader weaves a thick electric sunrise; effortless, dream-like atmosphere and totemic instruments appear over the horizon, supplanted by scratching synth bass and steadily thumping sub.

‘The Frog' unites Fuj & Cirrus for a snapping, driving underground anthem which lets you know exactly what these artists are about. Lumbering but never once losing impact, it's littered with nastily distorted LFO and grinding beat patterns. Not for the faint hearted, Fuj & Cirrus don't disappoint. Cirrus comes next with ‘Ether', again bringing the edgier, grunting sounds present throughout its predecessor, while utilising vocal samples to take you through the drops. The pace is then increased, switching between layers and giving no hope of pulling yourself out of its construction line of snipping drums and lasers.

Fuj offers up next, with climatic, quaking sub bass and smashing kick throughout ‘Gun of a Son'. Its percussion and crashing breaks are intimidating, killing any commercial vibes in the vicinity. Rounding off the EP is ‘Aphotic Zone'; Cirrus jumps on remix duties for Fuj this time, once again integrating their production might and creating a towering concoction of creepy atmospherics and wavering voice notes.

Fuj and Cirrus are not to be underestimated. Between them they're invading the underground and moving towards the big leagues.
