NTOAB Jeez is back. This time presenting a song from the new born opus of Ended (CIRCADIAN - out on the 4th of June, yes, 2021, by Demord Enregistrements). Ended is a venture by Alban Mercier (as well behind the blurry sunsetish cover) and Léo Campbell (coucou Léo !). For the picked song, the two gentle thugs decided to team up with Delphine Marais, aka Rose Mary and Kyle Knapp for the saxo. 
After a long and intense talk with two of the protagonists, full of chewy stories (“hum … yes … ahahah … SKIP), “Daylight” it is in the sunny sky of Flanders. Classic “panties-on” song in becoming, Rose Mary is spelling with her voluptuous voice an ode to the time. The boys take care of the drive, one way in and without stop and go, through a charming bassline full of copper wastes.

Playing music at the ocean, an infinite mirror curls upward towards you. Picturesque and perverse, cracked enamel castings sit in lazy but unsettled sands. Something is just right, having once stirred beneath the surface it now hovers misting at eye level. You can put your hand through it; pushing humidity around like a furry catkins flake in a tepid wind.

𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝐿𝑆𝐷 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑠 is a collaboration between artists Domingo Castillo and doris dana. Working through the process of developing sounds during the pandemic, the duo amassed large swaths of recordings on a weekly basis from 2020 and 2021 in Miami, Florida. The debut recording of 𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝐿𝑆𝐷 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑠 for the ENXPL series is documentation of improvising and honing a sonic vocabulary that is rooted in the tradition of early industrial, dark ambient and tape music. The backdrop of the recorded effort is a geographical conundrum of a city worn threadbare by candied advertising, tourism, and aesthetics. 𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝐿𝑆𝐷 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑠 inverts the spectacle of their locale with psychedelic meditations searching for, and occasionally digging inside of, a place of ease.

Messing around with Greek gods can be dangerous. It might cause curses far beyond the physics. Bobby Would choose “STYX” as the title of his latest album. It links to a swampy zone in Greek mythology, where STYX is a heavenliness, and a river, that forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld. Bobby Would says, “Time is only currency”. STYX is the place, where no currency exists. It absorbs all living, while creating new. Bobby Would, whose emotive Low Company releases distributed unfussy, magnetic, yet melodic serenades, that injected lo-fi guitar pop new drama orbs, created two 13-minute-long tape sides under the “STYX” guidance, that work against time while creating some. Like a lullaby, that loops in your dreams forever, each side features short, yet endless songs, stranded in a zone, where light and darkness form a bizarre union, that glooms eternally. Driven by guitar melodies of delicate beauty, that drift fluently from silky weeping pop to otherworldly psychedelics, he croons monotone poetry, that floats river-like into the unconscious of its receiver, just to create a muddy zone for new utopias. A short new vital sign full of miraculous powers by the Vienna based artist, that welcomes all into a twilight zone of drone punk, garage wave, velvet surf-riffs, and all that dusty rock ‘n’ roll fuzz. Ferryman netherworld music, made for those need the curse of a new mythological sign.

Following the release of his album Stadium, out on Shelter Press last October, Eli Keszler returns with a brand new EP, Empire. Recorded between September and December 2018, this three-track EP is about finding stillness, tranquility and beauty in a dystopian landscape. In some ways, it continues the concepts explored on Stadium since it's also an EP inspired by cityscapes, architecture and, as Eli himself notes, "the illusion of order during declines." 

Eli started touring for Stadium at the start of October 2019 with a performance at legendary New York venue, The Kitchen, the day before he orchestrated a five-camera shoot — check out this remarkable concert-length film: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNLdBYvpiJk). 

Eli will continue to tour starting this month with three solo performances as part of Kevin Beasley's exhibition “A View of the Landscape” commissioned by The Whitney Museum in New York on Saturday January 26th at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. 

He'll also be performing live at Mutek, Phi Center, Montreal on February 23rd, Fort Worth Modern Art Museum on February 28th (in duo with Nate Boyce), Gnration, Braga, Portugal on March 29th and Rewire Festival, Den Hague on March 30th. You can also catch him performing in Oneohtrix Point Never's band at Pitchfork Midwinter 2019, Chicago on February 17th and Myriad, The Roundhouse, London on March 8th. And, he'll be teaching at CAMP in the Pyrenees in April. 

For those new to Eli, his sound lies at the intersection of jazz, improvisation, fusion, modern classical and electronics. Although the music press has often tried to identify his work in terms of specific genres, he remains boldly on his own musical and aesthetic path. 

Stadium received record of the year from Boomkat and placed in countless end of year lists. Since copies of Stadium are sold out, a repress of the album will be released the same day as Empire on February 14th.

6 months after releasing the first episode of its compilation tapes, Lyon-based label Bamboo Shows is about to deliver the second chapter of the series, featuring 14 artists on a 90-minute cassette to promote audio sophrology, 90’s reminiscences, psychedelic atmospheres and tribal breaks.

Once again, head-honcho @erevandj aimed to present a distinct yet complementary vibe on each side, leaving the exotic and ecstatic atmosphere of the BST001 for a more introspective and darker curation.

Including poetic and melancholic productions from Italian Lamusa II, Swedish Golden Ivy, English Wåveshåper (one of the many projects of Greg Hunter), Russian Misha Sultan, Spanish Entten, German Airchina and local talent Vague Imaginaires, the A-Side highlights dreamy new age, delicate neo-folk and ethereal kosmische-kraut, considerably inspired by the 70s-80s wave.

Yet, this gentle path drawn by the A-Side will slowly lead the listener to some more percussive, tribal and dubby materials as the B-Side shows a twisted and wild tension, aroused by gloomy works from Lyon gems Jonquera & HLM38, Venezuelan Bear Bones, Lay Low, German Vector Trancer, Serbian Andria, British Angel Hunt & Lou Venturini, and will perfectly come to an esoteric end with the closing track by Komodo Kolektif.

Concurrently with this limited release of 150 cassettes, the label is reissuing 50 copies of the BST001, Featuring renowned RAMZi, Niklas Wandt, Star Searchers' Spencer Clark, DJ Ungel & DJ Rasputin and local heroes Eiger Drums Propaganda, Christian Coiffure, Jacques Satre or Lastrack.

Inspired by open spaces (and the objects that interrupt them), META DOOR L is the latest auditory excursion from Perila. Expansive in scope, it extracts beauty from the organic and inorganic alike, tapping into the wonder of the outdoors as it revels in the unique properties of metal—both as a material and a sound source. Building on her work for labels like Sferic, Motion Ward, and Boomkat Editions, META DOOR L is rooted in field recordings extracted from the wilderness outside Tbilisi, where a series of hiking expeditions led Perila to chance encounters with metal tubes, large rocks and the ruins of an old house. In the months that followed, these recordings were patiently processed, degraded and transformed, their misshapen remains welded together by hazy ambient atmospheres and textured soundscapes. From there, the St. Petersburg-raised, Berlin-based artist pushed herself into new creative territory, searching for the innate (and decidedly non-linear) rhythms lurking within her dense sonic stratigraphy. META DOOR L is the hypnotic end result, an immersive listen whose lush tones and guttural rumbles coalesce into something utterly transportive.

Ent I Pse

Paralaxe Editions is based in Barcelona, and Ylia (a.k.a. Susana Hernández) has long been one of the city's most well-regarded musicians. A classically trained pianist who came of age DJing breakbeat raves in Andalucia, she easily maneuvers between disparate scenes and styles; she's as comfortable dropping electro and techno records as she is performing alongside experimental flamenco artist Niño de Elche (she's a member of his touring band).

Following her appearances on labels such as Lapsus and Hivern Discs, Dulce Rendición is Ylia's first full-length effort, a cinematic collection of meditative and richly melodic tracks that largely grew out of her intimate live sets. Weaving together analog synths, field recordings and fragments of her own voice, much of the music was directly inspired by her dreams—and more specifically, the seemingly impossible sights and sounds that populated them. Working to recreate their lingering silhouettes in the light of day, Ylia oscillated between moments of deep introspection and playful fantasy as she settled into the hazy space between sleep and consciousness.
