I have a bad (fun) habit of collection pianos/keyboard instruments, so in the spirit of Piano Day 2019, I thought I'd give them all some love. This piece features all 14 of my keyboarded friends, some happy and healthy and others... not so much.

Dreams

Written and recorded over 2 days in South East London, ‘Carried’ is a collaborative EP from violinist Fiona Brice, cellist Tony Woollard and composer/producer Jim Perkins. The project began as an antidote to the sometimes laborious academic tradition of composing, scoring, revising, rehearsing, recording, editing and producing music. 

Each piece was created without score or prior preparation, relying on instinct, discussion and collaboration, with a focus on capturing the energy and essence of an idea whilst it is still fresh. 

The result is a suite of 5 emotive, meditative and distinctive pieces combining drones, elements of minimalism and chamber music with textured harmonics and the occasional melodic line. ‘Carried’ honours the spontaneity and spark of a new idea and nurtures it, creating a deeply engaging and cinematic sound.
