KRTM finds comfort in the chaos.

With a second full-length album dropping on 26th April on @artsltd and accompanied by a painstakingly-created film (already live via @hate_music Magazine), Casimir put together an exclusive mix exploring his earlier material. 

He also took the time to share the story behind this new album, how his discography has evolved over the years, and why the meaning behind his music is far simpler than most would assume.

FOLD Invites [KRTM]

@highspeedviolence is a DJ/Producer/Party Organizer based in London via Italy.

As a member of @thenacht, she finds inspiration in both, the clubbing scene and the free party movement. Her sets and productions deliver a mixture of her multiple inspirations combining industrial and hardcore techno, hardstyle, trance, mental techno, acidcore and beyond.

Her productions can be heard on labels such as @rawppl, @stroberload, @hardvisionchannel, @demainkollectiv and Carbone Records to name a few.

DETECT [057] - High Speed Violence

Aggressive synth leads encased by hammering industrial, music so energetic, so undeniably going forward that it almost hurts not dancing to it. That is what Berlin born and bred Acierate is serving his audiences. 

The founder of SYNOID and resident of Berlin’s infamous Griessmuehle has an indisputable reputation for unapologetic DJ sets driven by an unquenchable thirst for rave. Telling stories not with words but with synth lines, high hats, snares, and a hell of a lot of bassdrum. Converting sonic energy into physical movement.

After steadily making a name for herself over the last year, Wednesday took the opportunity at UNFOLD to explore the darker, faster tracks in her collection.

For DETECT 100 we are releasing @dj-tool’s set, recorded live at last month’s FOLD Meets Fast Forward. An event that brought together a label we respect so much with our FOLD family whom we love so dearly. @ DJ TOOL stepped into our booth as midday loomed, and produced a vinyl-only masterclass, full to the brim of hard kicks, hypnotic textures and otherworldly, sonic energy.

For this week’s DETECT we welcome @klaudiagawlas. 

By the age of nine the Polish musician had learnt both the keyboard and guitar, and by thirteen she had made her first production on her Commodore 64 - it was only a matter of time before she developed an interest in club music. After a step away to the US to focus on her studies in psychology, she returned to Europe and got her break on the dance floor in the late 2000s, with it all spiralling from then. 

Acclaimed releases on labels including MOD, Credo and Abstract have since followed and this week she contributes to our mix series. You can listen to Klaudia Gawlas’ DETECT now on our SoundCloud.

Beginning our DETECTS for November is the Tbilisi-based DJ @djketevan. 

Member of the DifferentSound Records family, Ketevan has recorded an exclusive mix for us, one energised with driving bass lines and shadowy atmospheres, that uses gravity to create a sense of harmony across the set.

DETECT [122] - KETEVAN

From Techno to Freetekno, Jungle to Electro, Ukrainian born DJ and producer @Sariim thrives in the unpredictable, darker aspects of electronic music. Now Berlin based, Sariim took this interest to the next level by creating JOY - a music festival showcasing the mutated, distorted sounds found in dance - whilst being the frontman and drummer of several hardcore punk & metal bands.
 
Recorded on February 12th of this year, the mix symbolises the last cloudless days of his life, before they were replaced with the everlasting nightmare that is the genocide of the Ukrainian people by Russia.

Bringing our final UNFOLD of 2022 to a close was a four and a half hour long B2B between Voicedrone and James Newmarch.

A rare, marathon set from the pair allowed a different approach to their playing; gradually increasing their tempo, giving more time and space to explore their collections, whilst playing to a main room that stayed at near peak capacity and energy levels throughout.

Deep into the 24 hours, just as the sun began to rise, we were treated to the sheer power of our resident’s modular setup that left us all shaking to the core, spellbound by what we had just heard.

Three weeks ago, the evergreen sight of @JamesNewmarch and @Voicedrone playing back to back brought UNFOLD XLVI to a grandstand close. 

As their first ever ‘All Night’ set beckons ever closer we can now bring you this live recording in its entirety.

UNFOLD XLVI - Voicedrone b2b James Newmarch (LIVE RECORDING)

For this week's DETECT, we welcome the Berlin-based artist @vanivachi.

Vani Vachi is a DJ and producer originating from Kyiv. She is also a resident of the queer party Veselka. Her music taste has been shaped internationally, starting from her early years in London and further refined as an important part of Kyiv’s rising scene. There, she curated parties such as Outside and Gems at the club Otel’.

Her sets are always unique and unpredictable, with a strong preference for 90s and 2000s flavors, a mixture of broken and straight beats, classical acid basslines, and groovy sounds. Being a front-row dancer herself, she knows that the journey is what is always needed throughout the night. When performing, she always takes the dancefloors through a metamorphosis of layers, textures, and kicks.

Since the beginning of her rising career a few years back, Vani Vachi has already performed on all major dancefloors across Ukraine, such as Brave! Factory and ICKPA festivals. She has also shared her music around Europe and is a regular at Berlin’s Pornceptual events.

Her recent release of the first 8-track EP on Diffuse Reality Records shows a contemporary approach to old-school trance, techno, and electro references. It further solidifies Vani Vachi's position as an up-and-coming artist in the world of club music.

DETECT [138] - Vani Vachi

This week’s DETECT comes courtesy of @truantwarsaw.

Undoubtedly a dynamic figure in the world of electronic music, Truant frequently flits between both club and festival line-ups in his native Poland. A journey that began in 2014 has taken him through the genre spectrum, oscillating between 00s old Techno all the way up to Drum and Bass. 

Nowadays, he feels at his most comfortable nestled in his signature driving Techno style, that introduces industrial elements and fast hi-hats to achieve his sound as we will all hear in this new DETECT exclusively recorded for us.

DETECT [139] - TRUANT

For this week’s DETECT we welcome @alt8official.

Whilst mixing has always been a passion of ALT8, it is in production where he comes alive; beginning to make his own music in 2019 following an awakening to the vibrancy of the techno genre, he drew influences from old school hard techno when devising drum sequences. 

That isn’t to say that melodies are left out in the cold; rather they are delicately paired with the harder, industrial elements in certain tracks - as can be seen most prominently on his ‘Hope in Darkness’ EP on Manchester’s ‘Moments In Time’ imprint, as well as labels such as Rave Alert & R Label.

To kick off the weekend, we are excited to release an exclusive recording from FOLD's resident, @andromedaldn. Her captivating set, recorded live at FOLD Presents: 10 Years of Monnom Black, showcases a mastery of Industrial, Detroit, EBM, and Acid Techno, seamlessly bridging the past and present.

Paying homage to techno's origins, the set artfully merges the raw essence of 90s rave with contemporary sounds, creating a pulsating rhythm that resonates with the soul.

Andrømeda's recording features unique soundscapes that ignite the dancefloor and transport listeners into a realm of electronic euphoria, which you can now listen to on our FOLD SoundCloud.

This week’s DETECT comes courtesy of a very familiar face: Aunty Nora. 

A magnetic personality from the land down under, Aunty Nora is infamous for bringing a unique blend of cheek and sass to every encounter, which translates perfectly to their music. 

Transitioning effortlessly from the dance floor to the DJ decks, in this DETECT explore the intersection of queer energy and raw underground power. Blurring the lines between Psyched-out thumping Techno, raw 90’s house, and Nu-wave Prog, their style creates a captivating and intoxicating experience. It's a fusion that unfolds as a driven, hypnotic, and sensual journey, turning chaos into a delightful symphony.

DETECT [141] - Aunty Nora

For this week’s DETECT, we welcome Manchester’s very own GFA (@djgfa01).

The Belfast born artist has quickly implemented themselves as a stalwart of the North West’s thriving techno landscape, slotting in comfortably on many a line-up in the city, whilst also being a constant, reassuring presence on the other side of the decks. Playing alongside a multitude of internationally-recognised artists, he has more than held his own in those situations, and earmarked himself as one to watch. An artist residency with the Northern capital’s infamous Tiribä collective & event series and a stand out international debut in Tbilisi has further reinforced his exciting future.

Known for his animated and versatile sets, GFA uses an array of sub-genres to explore different emotions, held together with the foundation of techno - expect the unexpected. 

For this DETECT, GFA has emphasised a peak time level of intensity, whilst also drawing upon all the different tastes and influences that form his current musical identity.

This week’s DETECT comes courtesy of Lucas Rojo, aka @r010artist.

Focusing solely on the Live format, the Madrid-based artist and producer dances between uplifting techno, dub and house both in his groove-laden productions and selections. 

A resident of the prestigious Phase Collective, R-010 is regular on their line-ups as well as their discography with his ‘Caleidoscope’ EP being released in March of last year. Whilst back in November, he released his most recent album ‘La ciudad de los muchachos’ on Cabrera, which featured his trademark funk-infused, energetic grooves aplenty.

Sob Story are a pair that need no introduction, yet are absolutely deserving of one.

Known for their eye-wateringly euphoric sets that leave all in states of euphoria, Sob Story is the main collaborative project of London-based producer and DJ duo Oliver and Villhelm. 

Familiar faces within this city’s clandestine corners, the two have cut their teeth at many an institutional party over the past decade, not only giving their music input but also their unwavering support to these underground events & their line-ups.

For the next contribution to our long-running mix series, DETECT, we welcome @borg_borg.

The producer and DJ from Düsseldorf, Germany moves freely through different styles of electronic music. She particularly focuses in on avant-garde driving techno, dark hypnotic sounds seamlessly blended with deconstructed beats, noise and timeless elements of IDM. 

With her conceptual project duo Fractal Void, BORGBORG creates a mixture of electronic and classical composition sculpted to artificial landscapes and unsettled futuristic elements. A member of About Repetition - a group of artists dedicated to the research of repetition through artistic means - she collaborates with a wide range of other collectives across Europe and is the co-founder of the techno event-series ‘SCHLEIFEN’.
