Sweet Reverie

Sweet Reverie by Shirley Ly | Violin and Piano Duet

It's time I pulled out the Fender Stratocaster & get some really punching rock music out. As usual, I had to add a few keyboards to spice the tune up, so in went some rock piano & Hammond B3 organ. But predominantly this is about the guitar. The Strat is pumped through my Mesa Boogie amp & dirtied up enough to give it the energy rock music needs. Hope you like it?

After years of playing the piano, I was on a family bushwalk with a nature guide. When we had tea around the fire, he pulled out his acoustic guitar & we sang songs. That was the final push to get me to learn the six stringed instrument as well, because it was so portable & could be used anywhere with a minimum of fuss. That was a quite a few years ago now, but it has given me another medium to compose on. This tune "Natur" is born out of the noodling I do out on the verandah of my house, then I added all the strings & Rhodes electric piano afterwards, to ramp up the emotion.

Funk / Rock is a favourite genre of mine, so it was especially pleasing to invite my guitarist friend from Italy Daniele Turani to do the lead & rhythm guitar on this powerful instrumental. I also love vintage keyboards, so this one features Rhodes Electric Piano, Hammond B3 Organ & Hohner Clavinet. The drums & bass provide a heavy, rumbling track to build everything onto.
