It's been a messed up year but there's been many positive things to be grateful for and a big part of that is the incredible music that I've discovered on a daily basis. Consistent inspiration from so many wonderful artists has kept me going in this crazy time. Really pleased to be able to experiment more and more in my live streams and in this special year-end guest mix.

Ever since Animal Trainer launched their global party campaign, the Swiss duo’s unique brand of ‘slow rave’ has captured the imaginations of countless electronic music lovers all over the world and spread their gospel to thousands, if not millions, of music lovers. Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson are the two men behind Animal Trainer, a dynamic duo which grew up on a diet of the world’s very best electronic music artists in their hometown, Zurich. Driven by passion for the music and an insatiable appetite for the party, Adrian and Samy have become two of the hottest properties on the international circuit and represent the epitome of what Switzerland’s new generation of artists has to offer. Raised in a city with arguably the strongest club scene in Switzerland, Animal Trainer made their name through a series of parties called ‘Rakete’, which still take place at the infamous Hive club. The duo had already spent some time refining their skills as DJs before launching the event, but their sterling reputation was cemented at the club. Revealed in 2014 by leading French independant festivals Astropolis and the Transmusicales, Blutch has risen to the rank of up-and-comer producer, thanks to numerous releases on Astropolis Records, Nowadays, Délicieuse Musique, Barbecue and Dance Around 88, allowing him to collaborate with legends, such as US house pioneer Terrence Parker or Kompakt boss Michael Mayer, and the cream of contemporary producers: Lauer, Red Rack’em, Strip Steve, Mézigue or Maxime Dangles. From Laurent Garnier to Tom Trago, Blutch has received the support of the greatest artists, and the backing of media such as XLR8R, Resident Advisor, Ransom Note, Groove and Faze.

After promising beginnings between hip hop and abstract that have panicked the stream platforms, feverish and wandering house vinyls with soulful influences, contemporary and sunny disco beats, Blutch refines his production work with a thousand textures and sharpens a singular trademark between electronica, breakbeat and house, following in the footsteps of Rone, Bicep or James Holden. He unveiled the first outlines of this new identity on Astropolis Records with ‘La Cité des Etoiles’ EP in 2020, announcing the beginning of a new and long adventure on the label, which welcomes his debut album Jan.28, 2022, ‘Terre Promise’. A tribute to his native Brittany and a sonic turning point revealing a suave and generous electronic music in weightlessness between electronica, IDM, breakbeat, UKG and slow house. 

The first three singles ‘Cobalan’, ‘River’ and ‘Poplar’ announce a very successful first exercise of the long-format, accompanied by remixes from the cream of the French and European electronic scene: Jennifer Cardini & Damon Jee, Mézigue, Lauer, Maud Geffray, Madben, Malcolm.

Terre Promise is an album that will take on its full dimension on stage with a fabulous live AV, in collaboration with the motion designer Romain Navier who accompanies it with a captivating visual fable, a total immersion between two worlds, real and dreamlike, mixing meditative landscapes and abstract dreams. Riding in with the power to deliver sunshine to world’s rainiest open-air events, Monkey Safari brings rays of light to whatever dance floors they cast their shimmering spell on. 

The German brothers have released on Get Physical numerous times over the years, but not since 2020's 'Palomar.' Their new single 'Ceremony' shows how their sound has evolved since then and comes after more than a decade of EPs and LPs on their own Hommage label as well as the likes of Anjunadeep and Spectrum. What defines the music of Lars Rühlemann and Sven Fröhlich - not least their 2021 album ‘Love Will Set U Free’ - is a curiousness and left-of-centre character that always embellishes each groove. That is once again the case here.

The sublime 'Ceremony' is seven minutes of deep but exotic house music. Expressive vocal wails drift in and out to spiritual effect while the warm beats roll deep. Shakers, lush pads and tropical melodies all bring the detail that makes this another standout cut.

With 'Ceremony,' Monkey Safari has already started to build anticipation for Body Language Vol. 24.

Grammy nominated engineer, producer and songwriter Steven Weston was brought up in Portsmouth, learning to play the organ as a kid, but an early obsession with electronic music soon had him trading it in for a set of turntables. At 18, he left for Spain, where he became a resident DJ on the Murcia coast. 

He’s been on the move ever since, touring the world playing keyboard for the likes of Ladyhawke, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko and UNKLE. He was also the first and lead bass player in The KLE side project Badger Kull and cut his teeth as an engineer at Metropolis and Strongroom studios in London, working many years with the bands Chronixx & Rudimental at their studio Major Toms in Hoxton.

His inaugural dance music release came in early 2021 with a remix of Catch Me When I Fall from the Ronin I mixtape, which saw great support from John Digweed. 

After launching his own imprint Blank Dust with two EPs, he went on to release on Sasha’s celebrated Last Night On Earth with ‘Liquid followed by his Anjunadeep debut March 31st with the first single from his forthcoming After the Flow EP, entitled ‘Like I Used To’, featuring vocals from British singer-songwriter Låpsley.

Stelios Vassiloudis is a multifaceted composer, producer and DJ hailing from Athens, Greece. Active in the electronic music since the early 2000s, he has cultivated a sound of his own - one that reflects his rich and diverse musical background, transcending the dance floor via an emotional narrative of complex soundscapes, intricate harmonies and hypnotic rhythms.

Classically trained, with a Bachelor’s degree in acoustical engineering and a Master’s degree in composition and arrangement, Stelios carved his path in electronic music by traversing the globe as a DJ and live performer - performing at intimate underground clubs in Beirut, festivals in Miami, afterhours in Tokyo, beaches in Goa and mega clubs in Argentina. #ResurrectionDeepHouse 80's and 90's songs remixed to #Deep House.
This mix is to pay #Homage to the #era Deep House was born. It felt like there was nothing better than mixing Deep House with the genres and songs that were already popular (#Pop, #Hip Hop, etc...).

 In the late 80's house music split into many sub-genres because the term “house music” became many things to many people. Much of the world associated house as either Euro-led trance, or Hard House  – a purer electronic, and less melodic sound favored by some mainstream radio stations and known DJs.

#DeepHouse commonly appeared as a genre in the early 90's, describing a more melodic, stylish sound with influences from soul, jazz and African beats, with many of the earlier tracks being sampled chords and beats. The jazzy sound became more apparent due to the favored use of electronic pianos such as the Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer and Hammond B3 organ.  Examples of well known Deep House artists and producers include Kerri Chandler, Joe Claussell, Mateo & Matos, Roland Clark and Ron Trent. Some of the early record labels included #HenryStreet #NervousRecords #KingStreet, etc.

In more recent years #DeepHouse tends to refer to tracks on the “spacier” side of Soulful House and tends to imply vocals, deeper tones, heavy organ chords and hypnotic synth sounds.

Also a supremely technically gifted sound technician, Alex creates music for film and television and could never be accused of lacking excitement. Amplifying his skills on every level, he retains the essence of emotional communication that makes his work so engaging.

“People really feel like they’ve got an emotional connection to it,” he says. “I feel like every track that I write has to resonate with me on an emotional level. If I’m not connecting with it and it’s not evoking some kind of feeling in me then why should I expect the listener to feel that too? As we’re all made of the same kind of stuff as it’s resonating with me then hopefully it’s going resonate with other people who are listening to it as well.”

On Nov.12th, Alex piloted a cataclysm of new abrasive sounds with his EP ‘Tephra’, released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint. 

The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression.

The 5 track EP draws an abrasive array of intertwined melodic structures - one that could only be formed by an adept sound designers’ skillset. The title track and single ‘Tephra’, is woundingly brash, jagged and skull reverberating, it paints a mental landscape appropriate to where the tracks were born, in the context of a melodic hook line.

Following on from his second studio album, Beneath the Surface which was released on Mesh in 2019. Banks’ reimagines a different story, one of which was sculpted by his time witnessing unearthly volcanic landscapes. The change in scenery he recalls brought a welcomed ‘change of mindset’ than the earlier intense period of locking himself away in his Brighton studio with intermittent bursts of time spent by the coast to foster creative thought. It brought a different intensity to Banks’ sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focussed dance-floor bangers.

“Any words I can provide to say how large this release is are a weak reflection of listening to the music. The first time I heard the tracks the energy was just oozing out of them into my torso, and that hook line in Tephra, it's something. It's so hard to make a melodic structure like that which is so simple and catchy while also being engaging after so many years of people trying to make simple and catchy hook lines. It's a fine art of big sound Alex is onto throughout, classic references, full human expression, no holding back, it's a beautiful thing to experience with a full frequency response system”.

Frankfurt born, Berlin based DJ, producer, & composer Martin Roth first arrived in the spotlight of global underground dance music when alongside Eric Prydz and Deadmau5, he was named a Beatport Star of 2009.

Since those days, Martin has gone from strength to strength, solidifying his reputation as one of the most respected & talented artists of the underground electronic scene.

Influenced by both the classic progressive house sound of the last few decades and the deep house & electronica avant garde of today, Martin’s productions have been continually supported by the likes of Solomun, Sasha, John Digweed, Eric Prydz, Tiefschwarz, Pete Tong amongst many other leading names.

With multiple releases on major imprints such as Anjundeep, Global Underground, Armada, Perspectives Digital, and ICONYC, to name a few, Martin is equally as natural and instinctive on the decks as he is in the studio.

2020 saw the release, with widespread acclaim, of his album masterpiece ‘Analog Guy in a Digital World’ on Lunatique Records, showcasing his undeniable flare for emotive & cinematic songwriting as well as his classical piano training and tremendous depth as an artist. 

Another of these beautiful ambient compositions - ‘Love Theme’ - is now out on Anjunadeep’s Reflections Volume 2 compilation. It signifies a decade long relationship between the label & Roth, which saw his debut release back in 2010. Since then, he’s produced some of the most memorable moments in Anjunadeep’s 15 year history, including ‘Beautiful Life’, ’Hypno Seq’ and ‘Organic Cold Brewed Hipster Funk’ EPs.

Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, breaks, and techno producer as well as a superbly talented motion graphics artist from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr would share decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with fellow innovator and Getting Deeper favourite - Alex Banks - as well as Maxxi Soundsystem, and XXXY, to name a few. It was from there that he made the move to Berlin to study music production & performance and where he'd form a friendship with label partner, Max Winstanley (Lewyn Stan)who he paired up with to launch their Helical Scan imprint.

After years honing his sound, Matthew went on to release his first album along with several other productions on Faceless Recordings, TrippyCode, Ozono, and CRR, garnering support from Amé, Guy Gerber, Anja Schneider, Nick Warren, Rodriguez Jr, & the legendary Laurent Garnier.

25 years after first cutting his teeth DJing tech house & breaks, Mattr's broad musical palette often draws him closer to the more emotive side of electronic music, finding deep resonance with forward-thinking artists like Max Cooper, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, Overmono, Fourtet, Phon.O and Radioactive Man, whom you'll often hear in his consistent & beautifully diverse mix series.

A visionary, DJ, composer and producer, Othon creates soul-sailing journeys accompanied by electronic and acoustic instruments alike. Floating somewhere between melancholy and ecstasy (and often in both at the same time) his music promotes fusion of body and mind, soul and spirit.

Othon has performed his work across Europe and in diverse venues such as the Tate Modern, the Roundhouse and the National Portrait Gallery in London, the MCF in Athens and Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana in Turin. He has also scored the soundtrack to performances by several international avant-garde artists including Ron Athey, Franko B and Lee Adams.

Othon is the founder of the pivotal Papa Loko events which bring together ‘cosmic soundscapes with self-expansive spiritual concepts’. Papa Loko has featured UK debuts from now established international talent and is growing a worldwide reputation. He is also the founder of Consciousness Expansion; a music channel and label that promotes the finest upcoming spirit-infused electronic sounds and beyond.
