Astro Errante is a work inspired by the painting of the same name by Remedios Varo, a surrealist Spanish painter who was adopted in Mexico during the Second World War.

The painting has a lot of symbolic charge, in a way it reminds me of Summer Music by Samuel Barber and the dreamlike sense where Barber and Varo are related. The idea is to capture the painting with this anthropomorphic being that wanders through space, where its meaning is the transcendence of the idea that maintains its same essence.

Final project at the Gabriela Ortiz Composing Studio of the OAcademy Music Conservatory.

The String Quartet No.1 "The Call" evokes the captivating painting of Remedios Varo, "La Llamada". The composition echoes the profound sense of lethargy portrayed in the artwork, yet also reflects the protagonist's awakening as she connects with the universe.
At its core, "The Call" embodies the spiritual concept of being summoned to unite with the divine and merge with the energy of the cosmos. It is a poignant reminder that when our life cycle concludes, we too are beckoned to return to the very source of all existence.
This movement is dedicated to my beloved friend Erika Dobosiewicz, who has become one with the cosmos.

Obsessive Reflections no.1 is a piece for bassoon solo and foot with or without a bass drum with pedal.

This piece is an allegory of the musician's process of becoming obsessed while reflecting on how to interpret music. Thus, the use of the foot to mark a beat, the repetition of patterns and even the "freedom" to improvise or execute long musical lines are all part of the process of Obsessive Reflections.

This week our guest is Davor Branimir Vincze, a Croatian composer living in Palo Alto, California. Davor has participated in a number of top festivals and residencies such as Impuls, MATA, Manifeste, and Royaumont. Similarly, his works have been premiered by several leading ensembles today including Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Talea, and Ensemble Recherche.

Davor began his university education in composition at Graz and Stuttgart, and later studied at IRCAM in Paris. He has worked closely with Stefano Gervasoni, Georg Friedrich Haas, Klaus Lang, Mauro Lanza, and Marco Stroppa - all major figures in the field. Currently, Davor is completing his doctorate in composition at Stanford with Brian Ferneyhough.

My musical story about four contrasting people who find their friendship in the search for new frontiers. 
In this piece you will find yourself on a journey through the past, present and future, from ancient 'vivaldian' sounds to African melodies, held together by the musical language of our time.
Thus, in nearly 7 minutes what was far comes closer, the past opens to the future and humanity unites.
