For example the first time I heard Jehst 'Alien' I threw all my lyrics away, 'cos he had raised the bar. Same with Joni Mitchell. I don't absorb music constantly. When something comes along that grabs me it tends to become an obsession. Every track on the mix has at one point been on repeat, warped my mind and made me want to do something differently or better.. Sometimes musically and sometimes just in life in general."

To help bring in summer we've got our hands on this fresh mix from Jamaican artist, David Marston. David is a talented producer, DJ, musician, and guitarist; his approach to music is multifaceted: in his own productions, David works to achieve a sound that is a fusion of various genres, including, but not limited to: house, soul, disco, jazz, as well as reggae. As a performer, he has impressed crowds and partygoers with his captivating live-set that incorporates live guitar and on-the-fly sound manipulation. Here are some words from David himself on the selection:

"This mix comprises a collection of meaningful songs: some are recent releases or discoveries, some are staples in my DJ sets, and some hark back to my days as a teenager learning electric guitar (hence the Stevie Ray Vaughan and Al Di Meola inclusions!). Not long ago, I came across the music of an artist named, "Mizan", and I was in awe of the beauty and sophistication of her music. After going through her catalog, I felt the urge to start working on a new DJ mix. Searching to see what I had on my computer, I uncovered an unfinished mix that I had been saving for something special, and I proceeded to build on that foundation. The new song ideas that came to mind fit really well with the original set that I had laid out, and soon, I had arranged a complete and eclectic mix. This selection will accompany the release of my Kindness of Bearer EP, forthcoming on Soul Clap Records out April 1st, 2016."
