In anticipation of the 2023 edition of the MOSTRA Festival, with whom we joined forces to present you music from some of the most exciting and talented producers and DJs worldwide, in the next couple of weeks, we'll feature several truly outstanding music tales.

After an incredible mix from Aa Sudd, which we featured last week, the bar stays high with another mind-bending mix from Auxiliary affiliate Michael Watters aka Sciama. For Sciama, music is all about creating a world in which the listener can explore the many facets of human emotion, a journey inward that uncovers both the light and dark within us. 
And this mix is no different. The deep, trippy techno beats create a hypnotic atmosphere that transports the listener to the underground world, so deep that no sunlight ever penetrates. The exceptional programming and seamless transitions between tracks demonstrate Sciama's mastery of DJing. Every element of the mix has been flawlessly executed, making it a true pleasure to listen to. With this mix, Sciama has given us a taste of what's to come at the Mostra Festival, and it's sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Sciama is on opening duties on the closing day of the festival, Sunday, April 9, from 12pm - 2pm

Local
The pandemic highlighted the importance of local communities, local institutions and local support for one another. We at Mostra continue the commitment to our Local, not only by programming local artists on the line-up, but also through how we choose our suppliers and other collaborations in the city. And we go further: an exhibitors' Fira for the duration of the festival, generating our own media content during the year through MostRadio, the Mostra’m series of debates, seminars and conferences in parallel with the festival, and our ExtraMostra series of events in venues across Barcelona place Mostra’s roots firmly in their local environment.

Inclusive
Mostra is a festival that reflects on the realities that surround us in electronic music. We are committed to breaking the gender gap in a scene that is traditionally very masculinised. We try to reflect this in our programming, in our team, and in the values we promote: we want a friendly and safe space where there is no room for any kind of violence, and where respect for diversity is fundamental. We have developed our own protocol with a gender perspective, and we seek to raise awareness in a transversal way throughout the project.

Sustainable
Mostra is a festival that seeks to be a social and environmental benchmark through its actions. We follow the most up-to-date sustainable protocols and develop good practice in relation to both city and planet. We have created the role of Sustainability Director who leads and implements an action plan based on sustainable experiences; we limit the programming of artists from overseas to reduce our carbon footprint; and we are committed to contracting and collaborating with social integration and social and solidarity organisations from Barcelona.

Hailing from Ukraine’s Odesa, @b1ju is exploring the intersection between dehumanized synthetic sounds and natural healing systems. His sound blends dense organic minimalism with industrial oxidized dynamics, merging with psychotropic breaks inspired by abyssal echoes. He's part of Warsaw based SUMISH collective, which bridges diverse communities through different creative disciplines: values such as diversity and mutualism merge together with a deep respect for the cultural background of both the local scene and allochthonous artists. Bijū also curates the Healing Machine show on Mutant Radio, dedicated to experimental, slow-rolling electronic music.

PREMIERE : Andrea Cossu - Sparse Points [ABT-EP001]


Art Bei Ton is kicking off its EP series with “Siren” from the Berlin-based Sardinian DJ and producer, Andrea Cossu. Featuring three original tracks, one collaboration with Idiolect and WTTM, and a remix by Veiga, those 5-track deliver solar vibrations through various explorations of the hypnotic soundscape.
Opening the EP with a groovy and experimental Ambient track, “Sparse Points” is an invitation to experience a radiant and pulsating sonic journey. Between the sun and the sea, the second track of this EP evokes an ethereal journey through Andrea's native island, embracing luminous pads and subtle rhythms.
With “Pressurize,” Andrea Cossu presents a driving and groovy vision of hypnotic techno, blending dynamic drums with dreamy elements. The collaborative track featuring Idiolect, Andrea Cossu, and WTTM guides the listener to a transcendental state with its loopy and trippy patterns.
Wrapping up this release, the Portuguese artist Veiga offers a deep and driving techno interpretation of “Pressurize”, embracing club-oriented sonorities.

Emiliano Kolkowski aka Kolko, es un DJ y productor musical originario de Buenos Aires. Inició su carrera musical mientras exploraba una variedad de géneros, como el post-punk, new beat y la música con sintetizadores, además de sumergirse en la contracultura de la escena rave. 
En 2019 se trasladó a Barcelona, donde ha continuado su camino artístico como productor, deejay y participado activamente en la cultura electrónica de la ciudad siendo miembro del colectivo B-Plastic y curador de propuestas artísticas en su espacio autogestionado: REFLEJO 44. Ha pinchado en varios locales de la ciudad, como Moog, Otto Zutz, Slow Club, Sala Recreo, Mint Bar y Absenta. Sus sesiones y producciones suelen combinar sonidos profundos, una rica variedad de texturas y ritmos poderosos que desatan energía y estimulan la mente. 
Así nos describe su experiencia preparando este precioso mix:  “Lo grabé un domingo, temprano. Había intentado grabar algo pero no me convencía o terminaba de gustar. Decidí cortar luego de dar una vuelta por Poblenou y tomar un café,  así que surgió por frustración. Busqué algo más hipnótico, deep. Seleccioné tracks con texturas más oscuras pero jugando entre la percusión y lo trance, sin subir demasiado la intensidad ni la sensación de velocidad. Creo que ese es mi mood los domingos.”
