Something slightly different today. 

I was working on a concept for an electronic piece inspired by the sinister tone in a lot of club scenes in films and television. There’s euphoria, but also danger - letting yourself go, but a lack of control. Think Black Swan, Belly, Blade. I wanted to make a threatening club track to be played in strobe lights!!!

Then the supreme court in America decided to potentially overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling which “gives American women the constitutionally protected right to safe and legal abortion”. And the world took a step closer to full-ass dystopia. 

But people always fight back. So that’s what this (unfinished) song is about. Sampled are protestors and news anchors. Transcript below.

Good evening. In a landmark ruling the Supreme Court today legalized abortions. The majority in cases from Texas and Georgia said that the decision to end a pregnancy during the first three months belongs to the woman and her doctor, not the government.

The White House offered no comment, but President Nixon has always strongly opposed liberalized abortion. Other opponents are now talking about a constitutional amendment, to reverse today’s ruling.

We have huge breaking news tonight, and I can’t even believe I’m gonna tell you what I’m about to tell you.

Politico has obtained what they say is an initial draft majority written by Justice Alito showing the Supreme Court striking down Roe versus Wade.

It is a detailed, seemingly authenticated draft, written by Samuel Alito, that would make abortion illegal in at least half the country the day that it goes into effect.

So, you know, it's not like we're gonna stop working. But definitely it's... anger and not hope that's motivating me this time.

what I was thinking about: terry riley's In C which i had seen on Sound and the Fury (bbc series), and the potential challenge it made/makes (as does soundcloud) to the production and consumption of music under modern capitulism. And three interesting phrases I read in some writing by Barbara Browning (who is on sound cloud) talking about CLR James, Frantz Fanon, dancing (!) social change and Haiti - these are  "choreography of non-violence" and "medium of the conspiracy" and [web?]"sites where political potential is mistakenly spent", representing themes in radical lives of re-imagining the future/past, actively challenging the status quo, and the risk of becoming incorporated or invisible.
