 Ram Dass leads a 35 minute meditation, originally recorded January 1981, in Sydney Australia. 

Ram Dass guides a soma (divine nectar) meditation, focusing on drawing the living spirit in through the breath and body - and releasing the stuff in you that is keeping you from being with the universe: fears, negativity, doubt, inadequacy, anger, loneliness...replenishing your body with healing energy. Release the things you don't need in order to be in the spirit.

In this talk Michael continues to present his approach to spiritual practice with grounded psychological insight into key practices of both the yogic and Buddhist traditions.

These talks are part of a series on the psychology of yoga and Buddhism and were recorded in front of a small group in Toronto in 2015. Michael used a large whiteboard to draw diagrams and define terms. The lectures are based on Chapters 8, 9, and 19 in his book The Inner Tradition of Yoga.

This instrumental rendition of the Yogeshwaraya chant is by bansuri maestro Rakesh Chaurasia. Playing mesmerizingly, he gives a surreal feel to this ancient chant.

In the Indian tradition, Shiva, the Adiyogi has many forms, each of which represents a powerful possibility for inner evolution. Yogeshwaraya - meaning the lord of Yoga - is a musical offering to Adiyogi by Sounds of Isha, Pandit Jasraj and Rakesh Chaurasia.

In the yogic tradition, Shiva is not worshiped as a God. He is the Adiyogi, the first Yogi, and Adi Guru, the First Guru from whom the yogic sciences originated. Guru Purnima is celebrated as the day when Adiyogi began the transmission of these sciences to the Saptarishis, his first seven disciples. So this Guru purnima, this is our musical garland. An offering of different renditions of the Yogeshwaraya chant to the Adiyogi.
