{Purrriestess} ~ Curious & Curiouser Live Set @ Asheville Movement Collective 7.7.23

@DesertDwellers  is the convergence of music producers Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, who honed their individual crafts in the mystical deserts of California and New Mexico, long before electronic music reached mainstream. Amani and Treavor combine the raw sounds of the natural world, wrapped in dance-floor and chill-out productions; blending deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices, and cross-cultural instrumentation into a sonic incense for the mind and body. Desert Dwellers’ unique global sounds are a bridge between worlds, and their label Desert Trax has become a platform to spotlight similar alchemical artists. Desert Dwellers’ studio output is matched only by their extensive touring history, which juxtaposes performances at America’s most iconic festivals like Symbiosis, Lightning in a Bottle, Burning Man, and Coachella, with high-powered sets at the biggest trance festivals around the world; BOOM in Portugal and Rainbow Serpent in Australia. Desert Dwellers are equally at home in the clubs as they are in the yoga studios, and the jungles, deserts, and mountains of far-flung international festivals.

Don't Forget The Moon! 049 - DESERT DWELLERS

This set which was created for and performed as part of Inshala 12 - 'The Unknown' on June 27th, 2020 [http://www.inshala.ca/]. I was so honoured to be a part of Inshala's weekend of online programming, and was (I believe) my 4th time performing at the festival -- which is one of my favourite gatherings. I also created a score of visuals to go along with the performance which was streamed via Twitch, from 5-6pm. I aimed to build the energy throughout the set, well offering a variety of healing sounds. I am incredibly pleased with the results and hope you enjoy.

20.06.27 - Inshala - The Unknown

MUSICAL MOON MUSING EXPERIMENT - Sept. 17th / 2020 to Aug. 22nd / 2021

This is the sixth installment in a 12 Synodic month journey to capture the correlation between sound, emotion and cosmic energy. Each mix is created within the 13 hours leading up to the crest of the moon cycle which is the best time to harness the power of the new / full moon. Through meditation and connecting to the current astrological energy ( signs, planets & elements ) I then create a dj mix from that inspiration. This is a collaborative project with Amaris (Tanya Lee) from Body Art Motion who has consulted on the overall project as well as provided the incredible opening & closing meditations.

Love Always Wins

Since their humble beginnings at a community radio station in 2003, little.fiery.one has been exploring the craft of mixing music with an ear for unique, beautiful, ambitious and experimental sounds. Punctuated with a variety of genres and styles little.fiery.one's sets aim to help create warm, open and explorative dancefloors that invite dancers deep into their dance. 

A non-binary 3rd generation settler, they currently reside and dance upon Treaty 6 territory, within the traditional territories for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Métis, Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuline (Dene), Nakota Siou (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and many others. 

As someone deeply invested in dance in its many forms, they have helped shape dancefloors at a variety of festivals gatherings, ecstatic dance events, and house parties.
