Dark, moody or melancholy classical music

This is my first composition in 2014. Flower motif's piano piece.
Title's word, Ran means orchid in Japanese.I imaged fantastic flower that is blooming in mind, and trying to express scene of oriental on classical piano.
Enjoy this piece, like a journey to oriental world.

Our thoughts and inner talk are with us constantly, driving our emotions, as our emotions drive our thoughts. Sometimes this can be a peaceful place, at other times, more reflective, or sad yet filled with hope. Our thoughts can be wonderful things, yet if we begin to 'drown'  in them they can be a danger as we can become overwhelmed, dwell on things or worries that may not come to be, or become stuck within grief and loss which can both comfort us and hold us back. I often find myself thinking too much, and need to remember the 'moment', to stop over-analysing fear, sadness, and to focus on the peaceful and hopeful times, and one of the best ways for me to express this, is through music, as so many of you do <3 xx

Words cannot yet describe what this sombre piano improvisation means at this moment. where the music hopefully 'speaks' for itself, produced with a beautiful ambience and depth added to the piano by John Styles.  

A full Orchestral version of this piece is also in the planning ….

This music was initially inspired by watching images of terrorism and the fallout, the chaos and people running in fear  .. it was these horrifying images I saw as I played this music watching a silent TV … a reflection of so many lost opportunities for beautiful, carefree people, of those who were lost, and for the survivors, and their families and friends and the heroes who risked their lives.  These feelings were also expressed with John Styles, but I still cannot find words which are adequate enough to convey the depths of such sorrow……   Perhaps only music can achieve this

Declining health stopped me from uploading this track until now but I, and others, continue to keep going, in the belief and hope that life will change for the better  ….

It is this unknown in what may await us that inspired this piece …. but It is also this hope that we must hold onto if ever we undergo change, loss or grief in our lives…. Hope and peace within …. to continue on despite our external circumstances, for life can be filled with such joy, which we must try never to lose sight of…. even the simplest of things,… the flowers that bloom, the leaves blowing in the breeze, the singing of birds and the sun on our faces ……  to find a safe place within ourselves where we cannot be touched and where inner peace and silence holds strong …and solidarity of all helps us to carry on

 I love the SC community, because it is a 'community', with the many styles of music and the inspirations and encouragement I find here for all! 

After discovering SC and hearing so much talent - I wanted to join in, but so much to learn!   I was a classically trained pianist when a youngster (now a tad rusty), who has restarted a musical journey, originally in learning the field of electronic music, and exploring piano improvisations and compositions.  However, most of my latest works have been piano-based, and am hoping to once again, learn some more electronic and even combine the two; piano and electronic ... But then again, I keep returning to the piano! hehe :)

- still exploring and not feeling bound by any rules!

A Mini Biography: Music has been a part of my life since a young child (my whole family is musical, though of different styles, with my step-father's fantastic rock-band and analog synths, bass and acoustic guitar, my mother's gorgeous Irish folk-band, autoharp and dulcimer, my brother's beautiful self-taught guitar, and my Dad's famous banjo playing) :)   

At a young age of about 5, I attempted composing my own piano works whilst begging my mother for piano lessons; and after about a year, my wish became reality and I trained for the AMEB (Australian Musical Examination Board) exams. I eventually started performing live, with amateur tours around the country area for a singing group and for theatre groups (though that was a long time ago now!). 

But eventually, I headed down a different path in academia, in getting my Bachelors degree, Masters degree and a PhD.

Now I have a chance to find this dream again, slowly but surely, as long as its fun. I also find it very therapeutic, as music can often express so much more than words can. It is a journey where time seems to have no meaning. This is a 'musical diary' of sorts, as I struggle through a difficult time in life health-wise, ... my escape .... music :-)

So, I would love it if you would follow me on this 'journey' because any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Of course, I am also here as a Fan, and would love to find more people to listen to! There are so many wonderful, talented, and often undiscovered musicians up here, and I cannot get enough of your music! I have very eclectic tastes in music. 

My apologies too if there is ever a delay in my replies, as I can't always be here, but will try to get back to you and comments, I appreciate them so much. Hoping to find all my friends, and new ones too! ;-)

If you like relaxing music or contemporary classical music, you're definitely in the right place, especially if you want to discover exciting new artists along with the more established ones! So, if you've liked one of my playlists, check out the rest or you might be missing out on some real gems! (I get no benefit from doing these, other than the joy of connecting people to good music!) As well as contemporary classical, I also have a few other relaxing playlists (ambient, jazz, chillout...), all with no words. 
After getting severe myalgic encepalopathy I found I have to rest a lot and at first it was very boring and frustrating but then I got into Soundcloud! I've come across so many wonderful composers and musicians on here and have developed a love of contemporary classical music. I make relaxing playlists... I started out just for myself but it's always great if someone else enjoys them too! I always try to support artists by choosing their tracks instead of versions posted by fans/others, and I enjoy making my playlists diverse, including all the brilliant female and international composers out there etc (which seem to be lacking in a lot of playlists and auto-play, and which is a great shame as there's so much talent out there!)
Most days I repost my favorite track that I've heard that day from one of my playlists.
The artwork used for playlists all belongs to me and was done by myself or my dad.
