With previous releases on some of techno&#8217;s most revered imprints including SCI + TEC, INTEC DIGITAL, Saved Records and Terminal M as well as their own Amazing Records label, it is no surprise that Milanese pair Minicoolboyz have delivered a consummate and slick debut on MOOD Records. Set for release on October 21st the two track &#8216;Dark Passage EP&#8217; is a hypnotic journey through underground sounds. The EP kicks off with title track &#8216;Dark Passage&#8217; which is a typically driving affair, packed full of industrial sounds and metallic tones until an extended breakdown relieves the pressure.On the flip side &#8216;Mr Proud&#8217; is another no frills peak time techno cut characterised by its shuddering bass and surging percussion which builds and builds until a well-executed breakdown, upon which it descends back into it&#8217;s propulsive groove.Overall then Minicoolboyz have delivered an expertly crafted EP which is another devastating techno release for the purists from MOOD Records.

OCTVS: It was Jeremy (aka JPLS) who turned me onto the RAZOR plug-in from Native Instruments which, when running thru the different patches on a channel strip with some heavy side chain going on, i came across the "Broken Jetpack" sound and it was instant. It sounded like a rave siren, a call to arms sort of thing with peaks and lows. So yeah, sometimes the hook/music comes before I've worked out what I want to do with the drums or bassline. At the time I was starting to play the classic "Doppelwhipper" by Gabriel Ananda in my sets again and it had this sort of "pimp" or "bling" thing going on that I'd always loved so that helped shape my ideas about the kind of vibe and groove OCTVS should have. The reaction to the record was interesting as quite a few DJs reacted more positively to the mellower b-side, "Debris." But I like to evoke strong reactions with my music or DJ sets so I was nevertheless happy with this release and it certainly rocked the club:-)

Debris: Coming from a dub background during my early acid jazz/hip-hop days in Washington, DC, I'd always wanted to do something in that vein production-wise; something King Tubby or On-U Sound mixed with my long-time love of what Mark and Moritz from Basic Channel were doing with their Rhythm & Sound project. This is me just having fun in the studio with effects and getting outside my comfort zone a bit by doing something aimed straight at the mellower DJs and dancefloors . The feedback was far more positive than I'd imagined so guess I'll have to explore more of that territory with future singles. - Dubfire

Dustin Zahn makes his album debut in March 2014 with the release of Monoliths on Adam Beyer's Drumcode label. Gestating over a period of a four years during break from releasing original solo material, Monoliths sees the Minneapolis native capturing the full breadth of his production style in the long-player format for the first time. Having become a mainstay of the Drumcode line-ups for their Berghain residency and beyond, the challenge was set for the Berlin-based Zahn to build upon the reputation he has established in the past decade-and-a-half since he first arrived on the scene, during which time he has also given a platform to artists such as DVS1, Minilogue, Psyk and Truncate via his Enemy Records imprint. 
"Adam Beyer has supported me since day one and almost all of my output has found its' way into his sets since the beginning. Aside from being a champion of my music, he has also become a good friend and has been a big help to me when times were tough. Drumcode was a major influence on me when I first started getting into techno. Getting the opportunity to do an album for an inspirational label with a massive following made choosing them an easy decision." 
The bracing retro-futurist synths of 1984 tease what's to follow: epic, ambitious, raw real techno - as imperious as the album title implies and impeccably designed for the tallest speaker stacks. When the record is at its most dancefloor-focused each cut is an amalgamation of classic techno elements that encapsulate the genre at its most uncompromising, though Zahn's skill as a producer shines through in his ability to demonstrate the range contained within this aesthetic. Whilst embodying the genre's purity of purpose, Monoliths is still able to find and explore different sonic palettes. 
"The overall tone is noticeably a bit more industrial and colder since it was written over a brutal winter in Berlin. It also marks my return to a heavy emphasis on hardware for a more raw sound. A lot of producers try to show their range on albums by writing music that isn't necessarily their strong point. In result, you get a lot of albums with mediocre 'listening' tracks and a couple of token 'club bangers' that should have just been destined for an EP anyway. I decided that I was going to focus on my strengths and write a full-on techno album that sums up my career so far."

It was back in 2012 that we saw Canadian duo The Junkies really explode onto the world music scene. Somewhat of a national secret, the pair had been educating the techno massive of their homeland for over ten years. It was their productions that really brought them to the global stage and their early and heavily supported releases for the likes of Waveform, Rawthentic and SCI+TEC allowed The Junkies to spread their sound far and wide. 

Fresh from the success of their latest for Carl Cox&#8217;s Intec imprint the boys make a much welcomed return to MOOD for the first time since last years collab with Carlo Lio, the Icon EP. Today they fly solo on their Dance For Me EP and deliver two of their finest tracks to date. 

Dance For Me is a deep and tempered number from the duo. Moody, groovy and refined, its bubbling bassline and &#8216;Dance For Me&#8217; vocal are intoxicating and impossible to ignore. On the flip is the tightly wound, tense and aptly aggressive Angst, with its industrial edge and thumping kick.

Sweden&#8217;s influence on modern Techno can never be overrated. Over the past twenty years the ever growing band of dedicated artists emerging from the country have each played a huge part in the global growth and development of the sound. Stockholm&#8217;s Joel Mull is one of the key and original members of the country&#8217;s musical militia. Known for his dynamic and often marathon DJ sets and his impressive releases for the likes of Music Man, Cocoon, Kanzleramt and Drumcode, the DJ/Producer is steeped in Techno history. Today though he again proves his eyes, and ears, are looking firmly to future with his latest work and debut release for Nicole Moudaber&#8217;s MOOD imprint. 

The Three track Wind It Up EP again highlights Joel&#8217;s love and skill for crafting atmospheric and harmonic techno. The Waiting&#8217;s powerful kick drum is governed by its beautifully intergalactic breakdown, before Wind It Up&#8217;s marching groove is bathed in swirling synths. The EP is closed by the industrial roller Geodesi, with its ethereal guitar riff.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

It's been a long time in the making. From their early days as label-mates on the legendary Gigolo records, these two dons have remixed each other, DJ'd back-to-back, even worked on the same motion picture together (Ivory Tower), but not until now have they teamed up so completely, or to such devastating effect. On the eve on BNR's 10 year celebrations, where the two will headline a series of 6 shows together, Turbo proudly presents '100.'

Both producers come through clearly: the slamming drums and acid Boys Noize has so thoroughly mastered, the clever vocal hooks, catchy basslines and ravey breakbeat flourishes that are the feathers in Tiga's boa - the best of both artists are brought together here, with a distinct nod to their electro roots. It's an immediate winner, asserting it's sonic prowess through a flawless arrangement, confidently proclaiming it's perfection in a slick, round triple-digit. One-hundred.

The magic, as in Mind Dimension, Let's Go Dancing, or Bugatti, is for packaging true pop into a compact, techno power-punch that leaves underground cred intact. Both Tiga and Boys Noize are outstandingly versatile DJs who consistently yearn for something more than the obvious tropes of EDM, embracing extremes, fitting in the esoteric, being connoisseurs of a multitude of micro-genres of electronic music. 'Jam #1' is an ode to these low-slung techno roots, a stripped-down bonus beat that lays down the law of the drum machine, and sets the stage for the forthcoming '808 IRAQ' pulled from the same Berlin studio-session, soon to be released on BNR.

“Man Worships Power” is the first in a small series of joint releases between Enemy Records and Emmanuel’s ARTS Records. Like rare split EPs from record labels in the past, each label takes control of one side of the vinyl for a double-sided release. With high mutual admiration between both labels, it was inevitable that a project like this was bound to happen. For this special occasion, we offer a full-sleeve cover with amazing photography from Sander Meisner.

On the first release, label owners Dustin Zahn and Emmanuel each picked two of their favorite tracks from each other. “Bark Like a Dog…” has already received regular play from Truncate and “Cargo” has been a secret weapon among DJs such as Zahn and Rodhad for the better part of a year.
