Flame

The song is about Mother Nature and, to some extent, Her interaction with mankind. As the Roman philosopher Lucretius said in De Rerum Natura (The Nature of Things) over 2000 years ago: "Harmony? Whatever it is, leave it to the musicians."

Imperfection

Based on a poem by Janet Patch, it was written for a friend going through a transition. Her home life was difficult and she had left her job and was packing up and moving away with her three young children. She is a yoga teacher, which lead to the reference to "tadasana." The imagery of the yoga pose, combined with the unfurling of the fiddlehead fern in the spring, provides a visible metaphor for re birth and starting over. It is a song about trial, uncertainty, and hope.

 g ballad Canada in the Fall continues the travel theme, following the sorrow and calm of relationship breakdown, during an autumn week spent in Ottawa and Quebec, with delicate mandolin and guitar arrangements and lush vocal harmonies. The album also features many notable literary as well as musical references, Soft Falling Rain was directly inspired by Salman Rushdie’s The Ground Beneath Her Feet and Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
 
The album was produced by Pete’s brother Matthew Falloon, mixed by Tim Wills (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds/The Cure) and mastered by Pete Maher (Patti Smith/Jack White). Reed In The River was recorded over three four-day sessions at the vintage-equipped, hit factory Vale Studios in Gloucestershire. The band included Pete Falloon on acoustic/electric guitars and mandolin, Matthew Falloon on bass/guitar/mandolin/wurlitzer and Paul Everest on drums/percussion.

Reed In The River is the title track from Pete Falloon's forthcoming debut long-player Reed In The River due for release on 25th Nov. This follows his debut single Reasons in September that garnered much love and praise from across blogs and radio DJs across the UK and far beyond. The Reed In The River single is being released with a beautifully shot video by acclaimed West Country film maker Ross Gill. In terms of the Reed In The River single, Pete’s intention was for the flowing acoustic guitars and mandolins to tell a story of finding one-ness with the world, and the simple joy of just being. He also adds “I see it as my Ballad Of Easy Rider, which is one of my favourite all time songs!”.

Following on from 2015's Flailing Tomb LP, which appeared in numerous 'best of the year' lists, Petrels – the solo project of London-based musician and illustrator, Oliver Barrett – returns with new album, Jörð.

From the ethereal choral build of 'A Little Dust' (adapted from words by W. B. Yeats), to the euphoric aural scree of 'The Last Shard Falls', and the driving, long-form song structures, interwoven arrangements and mythological trappings of 'The Long Man', previous listeners of Barrett's work will find much to welcome in a record that builds on the distinctive, ecstatic Petrels sound.

Elsewhere, Barrett teases this sound into new shapes; 'Terra Nullius' takes an oscillating woodwind cluster and hangs from it a defiant and densely constructed (almost)pop song; 'Waldgeist' slowly unravels a deceptively simple string refrain in an elegiac and gently expanding, haunted pastoral arrangement; and 'Seithenyn Sleeps' encapsulates the joyously overwhelming live Petrels sound into a swirling, enveloping closer.

Drawing together the numerous strands of Petrels releases so far whilst confidently weaving them together into something new that promises even more to come, Jörð is another singular release from this restlessly inventive and inventively restless artist.

Since releasing his debut Haeligewielle in 2011, Petrels has toured across Europe and shared a stage with the likes of Tim Hecker, FIRE!, Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Trouble Books, Demdike Stare, Nadja, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster). Having also collaborated with and provided remixes for artists as varied as Duane Pitre, Brassica, Talvihorros and Max Cooper, Petrels' output is proving to be thrillingly eclectic and unpredictable.

*Debut LP "Gossamer Rose" Now Available On Spotify, iTunes and Bandcamp.* Luke De-Sciscio began singing at a young age after being introduced to guitar by his grandfather. Despite dabbling in bands throughout school it wasn't until spending some time living on a boat in the English countryside that he began to find his own voice.

Throughout "Gossamer Rose" De-Sciscio pushes his guitar work to conjure an almost mystical experience. Weaving a serpentine flow that tumbles the listener along a path from which the lyrics; nostalgic, confessional and searching, are hung. Confiding in the listener, slipping between intimate whispers, rapturous falsetto and rolling around the distance in-between. De-Sciscio’s voice carries a warmth and a sincerity that lingers long after the albums stark closing track.

Exmouth, Devon based multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Pete Falloon launched his debut album Reed In The River on 25 November,  with  three full performances of the album in Tunbridge Wells, London and Exeter, with a full live band. This follows support slots with Britpop band Dodgy, and UK funk heroes The Blockheads, and a live session with BBC Introducing In Devon. The album is now available to stream and download on digital channels (iTunes, Amazon, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify etc) and as a limited edition gatefold CD from his bandcamp site. 
 
The first two singles from the new LP, Reasons, and the title track Reed In The River have received very positive reviews and widespread radio play from the UK, USA, Netherlands and Canada. 

Similar to the self-styled Paisley Overground movement pioneered by bands such as Co-pilgrim and The Dreaming Spires, Pete's music draws a line through many of the classic folk/pop acts of the psychedelic era such as Simon & Garfunkel, The Byrds and James Taylor, to modern greats such as R.E.M., The Stone Roses as well as taking in influence from more contemporary acts such as Canadian Americana band The Barr Brothers. On the subject of the influence of the spectacular, idyllic beauty of the West Country in his music, he says that “the music is definitely influenced by my love for the natural environment, and inspired by living in Devon - the moors, coast, countryside, rivers and skies here are something very special”.
