OK, fine...as promised a few days ago, here it is--an Interbay song about sex.  

Probably not what you thought it would be...or maybe it is exactly what you thought it would be--it could go either way.  

Let's just say I would have zero credibility dropping a Johnny Gill-style "love you all night long" slow jam...not without an archaeological dig for fragments of a long ago past.  Probably why this track is definitely about remembrance and, to some degree, regret (though not about the sex. ;) )

I should also say that there are some elements of truth in this track, there are some elements that are blended together from different relationships, and there are elements and amplifications that are pure fiction.  (So, if any of my ex-girlfriends ask if this is about them..."maybe?" is a legitimate answer.)

So strong is the drive for species-survival-activities, that people will weather an awful lot, that they might not be willing to accept otherwise.  And part of the ache that comes with aging is that you both start to forget specific details while never forgetting that those days are in the long ago and probably not in your possible tomorrows.    

I made it sad, didn't I?  Well, that's part of it...but certainly not all of it.  It's just hard to believe that it was ever like this, that it was a version of me that I barely remember, and it includes some of the best times of my life, some of the worst times of my life, and, thankfully, some of the things that weren't ever actually a part of my life.  (Because some of what's expressed here aren't based on anything that I've experienced or felt or said.)  

(Plausible deniability is important, not just in politics.)  

Noisier than NIN's "Closer"--and not as direct.  What the sounds of mangled machinery have to do with an off-the-rails physical relationship that you want to linger in and get yourself out of in equal measures...I'm not sure.  But these are the sounds I made to match the words I wrote.  

One funny story.  So, the song was done and I was thinking what I was going to say about it, so I looked up the definition of "Volatile" and it wasn't what I thought it was.  "Easily evaporated at normal temperatures" is not what I was going for.  Thankfully the secondary definition, "Liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse" fit the bill.
