Wednesday night, playing with loops, one seven beats long, the other eight, then layering occasional accent notes. Fade in and out just turning the knob on the amp once the loops were left to their looping. Recorded to phone put in front of the amp. Not sure why the eight-beat loop is more prominent than the seven-beat one, except perhaps that it's in 4/4 so the brain registers it more easily. Also not sure about that one hiccup at :46 seconds. Something suddenly went out of alignment and then came just as suddenly back into alignment. The bit at the very end isn't a tape cassette stopping. It just sounds like that.

Wednesday Loops

Rejected orchestral piece for a music score (publisher's call), quite naive and straight forward.
Piano, upright bass and flute, full orchestra (string, brass and woodwind experimenting with several orchestral libraries).

for this junto challenge "Record a piece of music that moves back and forth between two inhospitable zones before finding one, à la Goldilocks and the Three Bears, that is just right."


I made a parallel accompaniment for a discarded quena (south-american indian flute) performed years ago by my friend the great Luis Rigou.
Completely removed the old acoustic  tracks/accompaniment and made a "comfort" one ( a tame groove of pizz strings samples and upright bass C minor pentatonic) and an uncomfortably one (C diminished performed on dystopian orchestral samples and a different flute performed on a different key)

The final mix goes back and forth from the comfort and the disturbing track.

Today, having had the studio [MY studio] available to Me, I diverted My attention away from a dobro piece I was working on with a Friend, Gil Borguez, and decided to set out to create something brand new.

I always know the Marc Weidenbaum's [and Everyone's] disquiet junto project will furnish some ideas, should I wish to participate; thus, I checked My email, and discovered this week's assignment, "Jam Time [part 1]," and just, simply, 'got to work.'

The notes and three-chord-structure of "Monk's Placid Pillow," I realized earlier -- but after the fact -- somewhat loosely parallels, and carries the rudimentary chord structure, of My Friend, Gil's dobro song, "Cry." I can't be blamed, really, because Gil's song is all I've been working on for days -- it's fixed in My darned psyche!

Cautiously, and desiring to not 'finish' the piece, I ceased My work upon it, and submit it here for the consideration of Others. I uploaded a 16-bit, 44.1kHz WAV file to SoundCloud for Others to download, but can provide a higher-quality, 32-bit floating point version, if anyone desires one.
