Especially in times like these, I feel this concept is not only prevalent in American society,  but a staple of it.  Therefore, I bring you a parable to break down the concept as well as explain my own feelings.

Missus Mary was a widow, when she stumbled into Winslow
Walking to the market, for some tea
Saw them kiss from out my window, what poor Mary still didn’t know
Was that Mr.Winslow, was married

But these are the things that make us complete
Colors that bring us out of the doldrums
The misfortune of others we
Seek schadenfreude it brings us joy

Mrs. Winslow was unhappy, when she found the couple napping
Wondering, what had possibly occurred
Their neighbors heard the sound of crashing
Windows broken guns a blasting
Seems her only option was murder

Yet these are the things that make us complete, colors that bring us out of the doldrums the misfortune of others we
Seek schadenfreude it brings brings us joy

I wonder how we all are still laughing, while these tragedies all keep unmasking
Who we are, how we can’t stop harassing
To be happy, but are we really happy?

Looking at the television, everything seems so explicit
Yet I find I’m smiling, like a clown
Everyone one seems so sadistic, leaving our children dismissive
Of the garbage piling, all around

Cuz these are the things that make us complete, colors that bring us out if the doldrums, the misfortune of others we
Seek schadenfreude it brings us joy

While we see things that cut others deep
We do not weep we only smile
Start gossiping and breed more misfortune
Schadenfreude leaves us destroyed
