PLASTIC FANTASTIC is the alias of Oslo/Norway-based DJ and producer John Clements. Originally formed as a duo with Eirik Wulff-Engh in 2012, Eirik decided to step away from the partnership in 2021 leaving John to continue Plastic Fantastic as a solo project.

Plastic Fantastic’s first record ‘Here Comes The Sun' was released on Spanish label Our Nights Recordings in November 2014. The digital bundle included remixes from Dynamicron, Ilya Santana and Beatfanatic. Response to their debut was favorable with music blog Como Las Grecas offering a particularly warm review of the record. Remix-wise, the Ilya Santana remix faired particularly well, making it into the Top Ten on the Traxsource Essential 
Nu Disco/Indie Dance Chart just two weeks after release. Plastic Fantastic agreed to license the Beatfanatic remix of​ 'Here Comes The Sun' ​for an exclusive 12" vinyl release on Aficionado Recordings. Released in July 2015, the record reached the Number Two spot on Juno Records Vinyl Singles Chart,​ a​s well as Number Five in the Balearic/Downtempo Chart. It was Bestseller Of The Week and Piccadilly Records Genre Pick Of The Week. 
The record enjoyed heavy rotation and strong support, particularly from Coyote,​ Kenneth Bager (Music For Dreams) and Faze Action.

In 2017 Plastic Fantastic was invited to work with Sally Rodgers (A Man Called Adam) for a vinyl-only release on Balearic Social Records. The collaboration resulted in the Sola EP, a split release with Coyote and Calle Gravina. The record received great reviews, and Piccadilly Records Genre Pick Of The Week for the second time.

The boys signed with Ibiza-based label NuNorthern Soul in 2019 and released 'Reflections Of The Sun', a two-track EP which had taken almost five years to complete. The record was released under the duo's new Mirage-alias. Shortly after, Endless Ocean' followed, appearing on the LP Summer Selections One, featuring brand new tracks from Nick J Smith and Bonnie & Klein. The LP received strong support, particularly from Chris Coco, DJ Nova, S/A/M, Steve KIW and David Pickering (One Million Sunsets Radio Show), and the record became something of a sunset staple at La Torre in Ibiza that summer.

Recorded between May 2020 - June 2021 and released one year later on French label Golden Forest Records, 'Dusk' currently stands as the final studio project in which the boys wrote, produced and collaborated on together. The record, which included a remix by Rune Lindbæk, is arguably the duo's finest work, with reviewers drawing parallels to Tangerine Dream and The Future Sound Of London.

Since the early 1990s, Phat Phil Cooper has been navigating DJ culture with a restless spirit and an open ear, shaping a career that has never stood still. From Cream’s legendary dance-floors to sun-drenched terraces across the globe, Cooper has built a reputation not just as a DJ, but as a curator, artist manager, label founder, and storyteller whose journey continues to evolve.

In 2012 he launched NuNorthern Soul, a label that has since become a lighthouse for Balearic-minded sounds and eclectic treasures. Its releases, supported worldwide by DJs and collectors, reflect Cooper’s belief in music as something both timeless and borderless. More than a record label, NuNorthern Soul is part of a broader vision that blends curation, community, and a dedication to championing artists and sounds that might otherwise go unheard.

Now, with over three decades of experience, Cooper is moving beyond the booth. His current projects — from managing and developing artists, to creating YouTube vlogging series that explore culture, landscapes and hidden corners of places like Ibiza, Istanbul and beyond — point towards a future where DJing, storytelling and travel are interwoven. Whether capturing a sunset set in Bali, walking and talking with fellow artists on Ibiza’s coastal paths, or documenting his slow, overland travels across continents, Cooper is carving a new role: that of a cultural guide as much as a selector.

Still, at the heart of it all is the same spirit that defined his earliest residencies — an instinct for the right record at the right moment, and a commitment to creating shared moments that linger long after the music fades. The journey isn’t finished; if anything, it’s only just opening up into new chapters.
