It was a peaceful evening and the moon was glowing very brightly through the curtain

The love grenade still lay there, I was sweating as each nervous moment passes 
And I decided I would dust off an old line that I had seldom ever used

When The Rain Comes To The Desert

My wife and I have a routine every morning 
I let the dogs out while she gets those old coffee beans perking 

And then we shower, brush teeth and spend an hour adorning 
Ourselves for our long day at the jobs that we are both working 

She gives the mirror a quick check 
Gives my cheek a quick peck 
And says, “I’ll see ya when the work day is done” 

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys 
That’s not my favorite one 

Sometimes I’ll call her at work to complain 
that her spending Is out of control if I get a late notice 

I’ll ask “honey is there any way to explain 
Why these bankers took time from their busy appointments and wrote us?”

She’ll ask “Is that why you called me?  
Like a child to scald me? 
Not to tell me to have a good day?  

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys 
That not the best one, I would say

She hangs up the phone with me, goes back to running her company 
She’s in the big chair now, she’s in the C Suite

She’s a former teen mom who achieved an advanced degree 
Worked very hard and she kept moving forward, no retreat 

It took a very long time 
It was a very steep climb 
She can quite justifiably boast 

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys 
That’s not the one I love the most 

Everyone manifests multiple faces they wear for the people they meet 
Keeping them all straight can be a quite a difficult task 
Finding a person who loves all your faces is quite a remarkable feat 
But there’s really just one of those faces that isn’t a mask 

We return home from work at around the same hour 
Give a quick kiss hello and begin preparations for dinner 

She’s still in that mindset of corporate power 
And she has this desire to manage those around her within her 

My dishwasher loading technique 
Receives her sternest critique 
And she reloads the washer again 

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys 
That one is not in my top 10.   

After dinner is eaten and the cookware concealed 
Almost every week night, around the TV have we loitered 

She takes off her makeup and her sweet face revealed 
She puts on pajamas with a hoot owl on the pant leg embroidered 

She stops acting hard 
She lowers her guard 
And in her bosom my head comes to rest

Ambi Zen 2 ☁️

That's right, I have a new axe...a Schecter. I never even considered one before. But, I saw great reviews(and it cost 1/3 the price my Les Paul) so I picked one up. I wrote this epic instrumental to give it a test drive. I cut the drum loops (and gave them that big 80s feel), used my LPs for the rhythm guitars, played bass, layered harmonies of the Schecter's sweet, singing tone for the chorus and let 'er rip on some lead and Floyd Rose dive bombs. Such a fun guitar to play!

She was on the high school cheerleading squad 
I was a high school stoner 
She is a social butterfly 
And I’m just a bit of a loner 

She can talk her way out of a traffic citation 
And I’m who judge throws the book at
She possesses a genuine beauty and 
I’ve never been much to look at. 

She loves to dress up for formal occasions 
And I don’t even like to wear pants 
I have perverted sexual appetites 
She’s a big fan of romance. 

I’m just being honest, I hope you’ll forgive me, 
I have no intent to disparage 
She was out of my league and we wouldn’t have dated 
But she had kids from a previous marriage 

And that opened the door for me: 15 years older
Two marriages, each a divorce. 
Some friends of ours scheduled drinks after work 
With a large group of others, of course

We worked at the same place, downtown Dallas Texas,
In a skyscraper, 21st floor 
I was an well paid computer programmer 
She a single mom searching for more

And she hated me after this debut encounter, 
‘Cause I was arrogant, rude and profane 
See, I was nervous about it and in preparation,
I did several lines of cocaine 

But I worked my way slowly back in her good graces, 
I wined her and dined her and wooed her 
And convinced her that I could provide a good life 
On the back of my trusty computer 

We were an unlikely pairing 
She’s gracious, and kind I’m drunk and obnoxious and I’ve got a bad habit of swearing

We were an unlikely pairing
I’m a creature of habit, I don’t stray far from home yet she is tenacious and daring

Separately we are as different as water and air 
But together we are an unlikely pair 

And now twenty years later we’re happily married 
But boy I could tell you some tales 
My computer career has come to an end 
But she’s making a killing in sales 

She wants to pursue her advancing career 
In the city and thus the plot thickens
Cause I’m ready to retire on a couple of acres 
In the country with piggies and chickens.

When we got married she was practically jailbait 
Just old enough to buy liquor 
Which explains why we’re Currently locked in a stalemate  
But she will emerge as the victor 

Growing old’s not a joke, what if I have a stroke?  
I’ll need compassion and caring 
And besides I really love her so I’m hers till I croak 
And we sever this unlikely pairing

There’s a chicken wing restaurant near where I live that on Saturdays I often go to 

After cutting the grass and 
Wacking the weeds
Any  trimming any bushes unruly 

After several months if you sit in the same place the waitresses all get to know you 

And I always sit down 
in young Deborah’s section, 
she’s got a crush on yours truly

She really enjoys all the stories I tell and she laughs at my hilarious jokes 

She always makes sure I have plenty of ketchup, she doesn’t do that for the rest of these folks

Men, don’t fall in love with your waitress 
Being nice to you is part of her job 
Sure, she laughs at your jokes but she laughs at the jokes 
Of every Tom, Dick and Harry or Bob

One Saturday I’m sitting in my usual spot, but Debbie didn’t show for her shift 

And I’m thinking My god, 
what on earth could be wrong 
If I had her address then I could save her

And so I lied and told her manager that Debbie had called me and asked if I could give her a lift 

 He gave me her address 
On a cocktail napkin
And I thanked the man for doing me this favor! 

And I imagined when she saw me I would be her handsome hero and she’d plant on me a passionate kiss 

She’d say “leave your stupid, fat cow wife, she doesn’t love you, marry me instead and we’ll have marital bliss” 

Men, don’t fall in love with the waitress 
You’re not her white knight on a giant white galloping steed 
You’re just another guy who got the cheeseburger combo 
And an appetizer he didn’t need

So I drove up to her trailer and knocked softly on her screen 
And this 6 foot four gorilla came to greet me. 
He had perhaps the largest biceps I had ever seen 
And his fists were more than big enough to beat me. 

I said, “ I was sent to check on Debbie, make sure she’s okay 
Debbie then appeared engulfed in sadness 
She said, “wait a second, I know you, you’re there each Saturday. 
Why the hell did they give you my address?   

I said, “listen, I just wanted to make sure you were alright 
We’ve become so close I care about you deeply 
She said, “I just serve you chicken wings, what gives you the right! 
Get the hell off of my porch, you’re fucking creepy!  

So I got back in my car and I drove quickly away, for a moment there I feared for my life 

I knew that I had overstepped 
Her personal boundary 
And I could never sit again in Debbies section 

I thought from now on that after finishing the lawn, I should have a couple beers with my wife. 

We’re old and fat with two grown kids 
But just like Darwin said 
You have to trust in natural selection 

Men, don’t fall in love with your waitress 
On your personal reality try to keep a  very firm grip 
You’ve got a mortgage, a fat wife and four kids who need you 
So pay the check and leave a generous tip

The Eclectic Collective – composition

 This song began with JJ, as many of our songs do, who composed the outline on the keys, drums, and bass. He then let everyone else in on it immediately. Ken was first up to bat by laying his always cunning drums in there. After he had a beat to work with, Josh used his tree trunk of a five-string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Soon after, Tez and Stephen both laid their magical guitars in there. Once we had it all in the can, Stephen used his powers of production to give us a great mix.
  This one came together relatively quickly, which is a good sign that we're all enthusiastic about what we're creating. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
