This song is a bit campy. The core of this thing is pure Isley Brothers' formula from the 70s -- they had these no nonsense, hard slamming funk songs that just went on forever (and you want them to). And there's also a healthy dose of 80s/90s slinky funk guilty pleasures like Grace Jones, Sade, & Seal.

Souvent nous revient cette curieuse envie de changer le monde parce que certaines choses ou pour certain beaucoup de choses nous dérangent ou déplaisent, mais c’est en fait un jugement qui nous appartient, c’est donc surement le monde à l’intérieur de nous qu’il faut changer, notre perception, car personne n’a le même ressenti pour les mêmes choses, la paix intérieure est en nous c’est ce que j’essaie tous les jours de comprendre et de suivre, la résilience, le contentement pour accéder à cette paix intérieure. Lâcher prise en faisant confiance à cette force invisible qu’est la vie et son équilibre, se laisser un peu porter lorsque c’est trop difficile.

I was struck by an article in the Guardian 10 years ago about a woman who used to hang out and work with the Rolling Stones in the 60s and the article was about adapting to old age while having nostalgia for such a potent time in her life. For this recording I had to change one word - 70 to 80. Musically it needed to be rhythmic but melancholic: something you got from major and minor seventh songs in the mid 70s as disco kicked in

This song is a collaboration with my good friend Mark who supplied the files to his super guitar-based rock song Bad Orange. I have remixed his track, taking his guitar riffs and tried to make something which retains the rock feel of the original but is pretty different as well. We are both happy with the result. J'entends les cris là-haut d'une autre qui se débat , d'une femme qui pour cette fois ci n'est pas moi. Rien ne doit transparaitre , je ne dois pas laisser mes larmes couler et se frayer un chemin jusqu'à mes lèvres scellées . Et même si les bleus sous ma peau se réveillent , je dois les ignorer et agir comme si tout était pareil...
