Title: The House in the Woods, Part I
It was the kind of Sunday that felt like an Indian Summer—soft golden light filtering through the canopy, the hum of tires on gravel, and the scent of pine and late-blooming wildflowers drifting through the open windows. Harry and Elise had no destination, only the pleasure of each other's company and the winding road ahead.
As they rounded a bend, Elise leaned forward, her eyes catching something through the thicket.
“Darling, please slow down and turn around,” she said, her voice tinged with wonder. “Did you see that home back there?”
Harry glanced in the rearview mirror, puzzled. “No,” he replied, “but I’ll go back for you, dear.”
He reversed slowly, the tires crunching over fallen leaves. There, nestled deep in the woods at the end of a long dirt path, stood a Victorian house—its silhouette grand yet weary, like a forgotten melody. The gables were ornate, the windows tall and shuttered, and ivy curled around the porch railings like nature’s embrace.
Elise stepped out of the car, drawn as if by memory. “It looks like it’s been waiting,” she whispered.
Harry joined her, brushing aside a low-hanging branch. “Waiting for what?”
She didn’t answer. Instead, she walked toward the house, each step stirring the silence. The air grew cooler, the light dimmer beneath the trees. A strange feeling came over her being, as if someone was watching and following them.  A rusty hinged door creaked open with a cry, as the couple crossed the threshold into a place where time had folded in on itself. 
Inside, dust danced in shafts of light. A piano stood in the parlor, its keys yellowed but intact. Portraits lined the walls… faces half-faded, eyes that seemed to follow. Elise ran her fingers along the banister, pausing at a carved initial: E.
“Harry,” she said, her voice trembling, “I think I’ve been here before.” (To be continued... )

Welcome friends and to my profile! I hope to celebrate 300 original tracks on Soundcloud this year!  Thank you for listening and helping me in my musical journey. Recently I was blocked out of SC because of a 2-factor authentication problem. It has been a difficult year for me personally.  I experienced a very bad fall in July... broken bones and the works!  I'm finally whole again and the music has kept me going.  I am infinitely inspired and humbled by the extraordinary creativity I hear from your music each day and the wonderful friends I have encountered from every part of the world! THANK YOU! I am so very grateful for your support and the gift of music in my life!
 
What Inspires Me...I am inspired each day to compose music that touches and connects the listener in meaningful ways that are personal to their own experiences and feelings.  I believe what the world needs is more songs about love for all living things and the earthly treasures around us. The power of love is magical, mysterious, and miraculous!  And, it is essential to our survival like water and the air we breathe.  I believe that through the universal language of music, love can heal, bring joy, and create an invisible chain that pulls all of us together, not apart.  

A Little About Me...I started composing in 2016  after not touching the piano for many years. A career, raising a family and just every day life got in the way of making music. After retiring as a music teacher in the public schools, I started dreaming of playing the piano again and my years of classical training slowly came back to me. I love every genre of music, and the talent and creativity on SoundCloud has inspired me at every level!

For those of you who follow me on Soundcloud, I have been experimenting with adding tracks to my piano compositions.  I create and record everything myself using a Yamaha 660DGX, including the instrumental tracks built into the keyboard. Then, I edit on my laptop using Sony Sound Forge Music Pro.  It's a simple set up, and I have lots to learn.  I am not afraid of receiving feedback if you have any to give.  Sometimes, it's the most simple thing I may be doing wrong that changes everything!
